Born in San Juan in Manila as Yasmien Yuson Kurdi on January 25, 1989, Yasmien is a Filipino singer, actress and a song writer. She was raised in Kuwait where her family lives during the Gulf War. She had her education in the New Era University and Jabriya Indian School. She is taking the course of nursing currently. In 2003, Yasmien had her break to join the Star Struck reality show by the GMA Network. She managed to win the first runner up position after being one of the final four on the show’s first season. She pursued a singing career as well and was hailed the Philippine’s Pop Sweetheart. She also model of the magazines Candy , MOD and Seventeen. She also joined the Pond’s Soft Skin Search but unfortunately she lost. In 2009 Yasmien became the model promoter of PETA ASIA PACIFIC for vegetarianism where she appeared on a poster showing a sign promoting for a vegetarian diet. Yasmien appeared in a number of teleserye like Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita remake, Encantadia, Saan Darating Ang Umaga?

In 2007 she started having her own starring roles in Bakekang, Pati Ba Pintig ng Puso where she starred with JC de Vera. GMA Network tagged her as the Drama Princess of GMA and she was receiving successive television shows like Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig which was Sharon Cuneta’s movie in 1987. She was then paired as the love team of JC De Vera and with the success of their love team they were given more Sine Novela appearances. Yasmien made another Sharon Cuneta movie adaptation, Babangon Ako’t Dudurugon Kita that made an instant hit, pulling down its rival series My Girl. She further did more television shows like Saan Darating Ang Umaga and her Sine Novela made a top TV ratings. Her other stints include SRO Cinemaserye, Suspetsa, and Dear Friend: Madrasta. Yasmien also tried to portray a villain role in GMA’s Grazilda in 2010. In 2012, Yasmien took a break from her showbiz career when she get pregnant and gave birth to her baby on November 22, 2012 from her flight attendant husband, Rey Soldevilla. Yasmien’s mother was not at all consenting to her marriage with Soldevilla because of religion issue. Her husband is a Catholic while Yasmien’s family is Iglesia Ni Cristo member. This however did not prevent them from pursuing their relationship and they are happily married with their baby Ayesha Zara. Yasmien is currently taking nursing and she is on her third year level now.

Prior to her taking respite from her showbiz career, Yasmien Kurdi was able to launch her first debut album in 2005 which was under GMA Records. This is In the Name of Love album where she recorded her first single I Know which was used as the soundtrack in the Filipino version for the Korean teledrama Sweet 18 under GMA Network. She then recorded in the same year In the Name of Love and Umaambisyon. Her second album, Love Is All I Need was her second album that carried her singles Goodbye, Candlelight Romance, One Day, Kisapmata, Even If, Take It or Leave It and Love is all I Need.

Aside from recording albums, Yasmien Kurdi also appeared in the movies like Bleach: Memories of Nobody, Bahay Kubo, Loving You, Pitong Dalagita, Lovestruck, Shake, Rattle and Roll 2k5, Happily Ever After, So Happy Together, and Aisheti Imasu1941: Mahal Kita. She received some awards in 2009 as the Best Afternoon Drama Actress by the PEP Forums Awards, Ranked 53 as the Top 100 sexiest women in the World by FHM Philippines, and Kapuso Fan Favorite for female nominee. She also won as Ms. Curvilicious by the YES Magazine in 2008 and in the same year she was awarded as Prettiest Female Kapuso, and Most Promising Young Actress by the PEP Forum Awards. In 2007, she became the Best Texter’s Choice Award from Candlelight Romance and received the Gold Records Award for Love Is All I Need from GMA Records. She also ranked 26 in FHM Philippine’s Top 100 Sexiest Women in the World. She became the Best New Artist in the Myx Music Awards in 2006 and won the Song of the Year for her single In the Name of Love from the Ifm Pinoy Music Award 2006 and as a Breakthrough Singer of the Year from the same Music Award Body. Her single In the Name of Love hit a platinum record in 2006 and the SOP Music Awards granted her the title for Song of the Year for her single I Know.
