Randy Santiago is Randy Gerard Legaspi Santiago in real life. Born on November 26, 1960, he is one of the well-known Santiago brothers of the Philippine cinema. Randy is the son of the late acclaimed film director, Pablo Santiago. He is married to Marilou Coronel whom he has three children, Rafael, Ryan, and Raiko. He is the brother of actor Raymart Santiago ,actor-movie/TV/stage director Rowell Santiago, and Reily Pablo L. Santiago Jr.
He is considered as a renowned Filipino actor, singer, comedian, host, and excellent songwriter. Known for his signature glasses, Randy is also a very good director, producer, and entrepreneur. Though he came from a respectable clan in show business, he studied and finished Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts at De La Salle University to ensure his better future. His inborn talent and interest in music and singing was further enhanced with the help of musical bands and groups who contributed much to his singing capability. He was a member of the Kundirana during his high school days and became a part of the Cicada Band in the early 80’s. These experiences made him tour different clubs and bars in Metro Manila as well as Asian countries like Singapore and Malaysia.
He went solo in 1986 and his first single “Hindi Magbabago” was an instant success and became top rated in the hit charts. His other songs like “Babaero” and “Paikot-ikot” also rocked the country. Other songs performed by Randy are Pobreng Manliligaw, Tabi Tayo, True Love, Basta’t Ika’y Maging Akin, Huwag Kang Paloloko, Senorita, Ikaw Lamang, Wala Nang Iba, Laman ng Kalsada, Curtain of Your Heart, and I’ll Sing To You.He also made his name as an actor and has appeared in different movies like Pera o Bayong (Not the TV!) with John Estrada and Willie Revillame; Ang Syota kong Balikbayan; Wanted: Perfect Mother; Tiny Terrestrial: The Three Professors; Paikot-ikot; Tarat at Teroy alongside Maricel Soriano; and No Retreat, No Surrender Si Kumander.
He also hosted shows such as Lunch Date (GMA); SST: Salo Salo Together (GMA); ABS-CBN’s Magandang Tanghali Bayan with John Estrada and Willie Revillame and Happy, Yipee, Yehey. Presently, Randy is co-hosting TV5’sWowowillie along with Willie Revillame, whom he had worked before during Magandang Tanghali Bayan days. He also acted as judge in ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Quest(2004-2005), Little Big Superstar, and Showtime; GMA Network’s Are You The Nest Big Star; and TV5’s Talentadong Pinoy. Randy also made himself visible in other shows like ABS-CBN’s Lorenzo’s Time, Wansapanataym, Toda Max, My Juan and Only, and ‘Sang Linggo nAPO Sila; GMA Network’s Diva (Philippine TV Series), Pepito Manaloto, Show Me Da Manny, Maynila, Celebrity Duets: Philippine Edition, ‘Wag Kang Kukurap; and O-Ha! of ABC5 now TV5. He also produced and directed television shows Parekoy(ABS-CBN) which stars Zanjoe Marudo, John Pratts, and jayson Gainza; Aalog-alog(ABS-CBN) with Keanna Reeves and Pokwang as lead stars; and SST: Salo-Salo Together (GMA). Randy also produced the movies “JR” (1983) and “Daniel Bartolo ng Sapang Bato”(1983). Randy started his career in show business in 1986 and is still presently active doing shows ,guestings, producing, and directing. He also makes himself busy managing his restobar, Ratsky, which he founded a few years ago.
