Christian Bautista, a Filipino singer, host, actor and model, is Christian Joseph Morata Bautista in real life. He was born October 19, 1981 in Manila to parents Ebert and Jo Bautista. He is the eldest among the brood of three. His brother Joshua Daniel Bautista is an English teacher and another brother Jordan JamesBautista study at Ateneo de Manila University. Christian spent his elementary and high school years at International Christian Academy and then took up Landscape Architecture at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. At the age of seven, he is an active member of the choir in their church.
Christian’s first encounter with the spotlight was when he joined ABS-CBN’s Star in a Million where he ended up as 4th placer. He saw brighter future when he signed a recording contract with Warner Music Philippines. His hit single The Way You Look at Me was a sure-fire hit in the charts. His self-titled album which carried also reached multi-platinum standing not only in the Philippines but also in Indonesia.
He made a name for himself in the music industry not only in the Philippines but in other Asian countries as well like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. In 2005 RCTI, Indonesia’s largest TV network aired the singer’s first ever Indonesian TV special, Completely: Christian Bautista. He then got the chance to perform with Indonesia’s biggest names in the music scene like Krisdayanti, Titi DJ, and music genius, Andi Rianto. In the same year, he played a part in the fantasy soap, Kampanerang Kuba with actress Anne Curtis-Smith.
Christian’s career both as a singer and actor never stop from shining. In 2006 he was one of the casts of the movie Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di together with Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez. The said film was Regal’s official entry for 2006 Metro Manila Film Festival. He also did a 4-city tour in Indonesia last 2007 where he visits Indonesian cities Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, and Jakarta. The next year, 2008, he won the 1st Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards Philippines as Favorite Musical Artist Act. In the same year he starred in the stage play, The West Side Story together with fellow artist Karylle. Their tandem never stop from there and so they starred together again in The Kitchen Musical. It also featured other Filipino talents like Thou Reyes, Art Acuna, and other Singaporean talents.
Aside from being an actor and a singer, Christian is also a model and is the star endorser of the following: Swatch watches, Skechers, Oishi, St. Augustine School of Nursing, Trumpets Academy, Smart Telecom, Bed Head, and Bench clothing and body spray.
He also took part in movies Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di, Kimmy Dora (cameo role), and theater plays like The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Joseph the Dreamer, The West Side Story, and Rama Hari where he displayed his brilliant acting ability. Christian also appeared in the following TV shows: ASAP, The Christian Bautista Show, Kampanerang Kuba, A Special Symphony, The Kitchen Musical, Your Song Presents: Beautiful Girl, and Star In A Million. At present, Christian moved from ABS-CBN (where he stayed for 10 years) to GMA Network where he signed a 3-year contract as a Kapuso.
