Cebuana songstress, Anna Fegi is a Filipino actress and singer. She was born on April 18, 1977 in Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines. She was best known as a performer in ASAP and had also performed internationally in over forty different countries. Anna was first discovered by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab during a talent search in Cebu.
Anna Fegi is the fourth of seven siblings. Her father Gaudencio Fegi was an audio/visual technician at De LaSalle Andres Soriano Memorial School (ASMS) and her mom Soccoro Fegi was a religion teacher of the same school. She came from a musically inclined family who spent time together singing and performing. They lived together in a small house inside the school compound. Anna’s two great influences were Whitney Houston and Barbara Streisand. She used to sing along to their records while playing them in her father’s own-built sound systems. Anna, with her parents’ encouragement, entered local singing contest and performed in different school and church events.
Her early music career started when she joined Smokey Mountain and was able to tour in Japan. She was made a part of the group’s third batch as a replacement for Shar Santos. After her Smokey Mountain days, she turned to the world of musical theatre. Anna also joined the Japan tour of the musical, ‘Hair’ with Tetsuya Bessho. After three months, she returned to Cebu to pursue her studies at University of San Jose-Recoletos taking up Mass Communication. She was also an Amparito Llames Lhuiller Educational Foundation (ALLEF) scholar.
Because of her love for music, Anna decided to leave school and moved to Manila in 1998. She was then managed by Bibsy Carballo for five years. Anna joined different song writing competition, one of which is ABS-CBN’S Himig Handog. Her rendition of the song ‘Larawan’ which was composed by Doji Simon, won the People’s Choice Award in 2000. Since then, offers from recording companies came knocking at her door that led to the release of her albums. She indeed made a name for herself not only in the Philippine music industry, but also abroad.
In 2006, Anna joined Hongkong Disneyland’s production of The Lion King. She eventually pursued a career as a featured singer in a theatre group on board in different international cruise line. Little was heard from the curly-haired songstress over the years and now she’s back with a mission.
Anna, together with husband Adam Brown (whom she met and worked with on the cruise ship), established The School of Rock Cebu. It is a performance school which offers lessons in voice, guitar, bass, drum, keyboard, and violin. The school will serve as a venue for budding musicians where Anna and Adam can pass on what they have mastered in the music industry over the years.
To date, Anna Fegi is busied herself in songwriting aside from managing her newly established musical school. An award-winning artist, Anna was most remembered through her songs like ‘I Need You’ and ‘Nasaan Ka Na Kaya Ngayon’. Among Anna’s awards as an artist include: 1998 Best Movie/TV/Stage Theme Song Recording (Awit Awards); 2000 People’s Choice Award (ABS-CBN Himig Handog); 2002 Outstanding Cebuana (Cebu Chamber of Commerce); 2003 Most Promising Artist (Aliw Awards); 2003 Grand Prize Winner (ABS-CBN Himig Handog); 2005 Best Female Singer in Bars and Lounges (Aliw Awards); 2005 Best Female Singer in Bars, Hotels, and Lounges (Aliw Awards); and 2011 Special Citation for Filipino Recording Artists Championing the World of Cruise Entertainment (Aliw Awards).
