Marjorie Bernandine Barreto is a Filipina actress and politician who is fondly called Marj by her friends and colleagues, was born on May 19, 1974. She is the sister of Claudine and Gretchen Barreto, both an actress in their own rights and another sister who works as a teacher in Boston, U.S.A., Gia. Marjorie is a city counselor of the second district of Caloocan City. Her parents are Miguel Alvir Barretto and Estrella Castelo Barretto.
She has a 14 year marriage to Dennis Padilla, a comedy actor and also a councilor then and known as Dennis Esteban Baldivia in real life. They had four beautiful children. Marjorie officially filed her annulment on June 12, 2007 at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. She was accused on various controversies surrounding the marriage, her annulment, being a mother and her alleged romance with Caloocan Mayor Recom Echiverri with rumors of her getting pregnant.
The intrigues about her ex-husband are way below the truth, Marjorie says. Saving the marriage was one of the priorities she had done. Not all things can be easily patched up and repaired, that’s why the best thing to do is to annul the marriage, separation and move on. Marjorie believes that she did everything to be a good wife and mother to her children. She even asked forgiveness for the decision he made and wish Dennis Padilla well, as seen on one of interviews she had with Boy Abunda. Being a perfect mother and be the best for her children are the focus of her life right now. Amidst problems and difficulties, she remained strong and mature.
Marjorie Barretto is doing her best to provide for her children and considering she is now a single parent, it would be quite difficult to manage. On the other hand, she responded to the allegations of her rumored pregnancy. She said the rumor is not true, because in politics and showbiz world there are always malicious people who do nothing but spread ill gossips. Marjorie even said that she knows who these people are but did not mention their names. Rumors about her alleged relationship with a politician are not true either.
