Alyssa Alano is actually Geramie Daud in real life and was born on August 11, 1987 in Zamboanga City. Alyssa has a Filipino mother and an Australian father of Spanish descent. She actually grew up in Tarlac and became a member of the Viva Hot Babes. A Filipina actress and TV host, she has been a contract artist of GMA Network the first time she joined the showbiz industry. Alyssa once performed at the German Moreno’s show “Walang Tulugan With Master Showman,” and sang “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer. Little did she know that this would be made a viral video in the YouTube and will make her popular. Somebody had uploaded the video on the site and placed karaoke subtitles on her accented lyrics and change the title to “Keys Me.” But instead of being angry, she took it positively and credited the video for her gained popularity.
She got her first TV appearance in 2007, in which she portrayed Mary in the adaptation of the action series Lupin, and a monkey-woman in the fantasy series entitled “Kamandag” opposite Benjie Paras who played the role as a King of the Monkey-people in the show. In the afternoon drama “Una Kang Naging Akin,” which starred Angelika and Maxene Magalona, she played the role of Maan. Although she was not the lead star of the said series, she considers it her biggest break in her television career.
In the thriller drama entitled “Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang,” she played as one of the maids of Dingdong Dantes as Yaya Sitas. She was also a guest star in the remake of “Rosalinda,” aired over GMA Network. Alyssa played Marissa, the Flora Venom in the 2009 Darna, which has the power to kill people by shooting poison out of her mouth. In the hit Filipino version of “Full House,” she was also included in the cast together with Heart Evangelista and Isabel Oli.
She realized that her father was already dead when her half-sister from Australia called and informed her of the incident in 2009. In March of 2010, she visited her paternal relatives in Australia, after she met her half-sister in February of 2010.
In October of 2012, Alyssa Alano figured in a vehicular accident when she was speeding along Marcos Highway near Marikina City around 1 AM. Her car allegedly hit the concrete barrier of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority at the center island. She was fatally injured when the metal part attached to the concrete barrier pierced through her abdomen. Alyssa was rushed to the hospital and was fortunate enough to have survived the car crash.
Today, she is just thankful for the speedy recovery and the second life God has given her. The actress appreciated those people around her more than ever, because they were the ones who really took care of her when she was in the hospital. She continues to co-host with Joey de Leon, Lolit Solis and Butch Francisco in Startalk aired over GMA 7.
