He is married to Glydel Mercado who is also a former actress. Tonton is a movie and television actor who comes from a family who is in the world of show business. His half brothers Ramon Christopher Gutierrez and Richard and Raymond Gutierrez are also actors and his half sister Ruffa Gutierrez is an actress. Thornton is an American descent on both his paternal and maternal sides.
