Born as Sheryl Rose Anna Marie Sonora Cruz on April 5, 1974 in Makati City, Sheryl Cruz is a Filipino actress and a singer who started her showbiz career as a child actress. She came from a family of actors and actresses with her mother Rosemarie Sonora an actress and her father Ricky Belmonte an actor. Her aunt Susan Roces is the Queen of Filipino movies. She is of a Spanish Filipino descent from both sides of her parents. Her mother is of French and Chinese descent. She married Norman Bustos in 1996 to whom she has a daughter named Ashley Nicole. They however divorced in 2008 despite tying the knot three times in a civil wedding in Lake Tahoe, a catholic wedding in the Philippines and in a church wedding in California.
As a child actress, Sheryl Cruz won several acting awards like the Best child actress award given by the FAMAS for her acting in the movie Basang Sisiw which she co-starred with Janice De Belen and Julie Vega, and as a best child actress for the movie Roman Rapido whom she co-starred with the late Fernando Poe, Jr. She rose to fame together with other young stars like Manilyn Reyes and Tina Paner. They were groomed as the Triplets. Sheryl was the Princess of Philippine Cinema and she became a regular host in the That’s Entertainment show of German Moreno. She regularly appears on the show every Wednesday.
From being a child actress, Sheryl Cruz was paired with Romnick Sarmenta as her love team while she was a contract star of Seiko Films. After taking a break from her showbiz career when she went to the United States in 2004, Sheryl made a comeback and started making movies like the Mano po 3: My Love where she co-starred with Vilma Santos. She was also a guest in the two seasons of Now and Forever which is an afternoon prime time show. She was also a cast in the ABS CBN’s Princess Sarah where she portrayed a villain character. She also appeared in the shows Bakekang and Luna Mystica. She also made an appearance in the Sine Noverla series of Tinik Sa Dibdib where she portrayed an antagonist role. This was followed by her appearances in GMA shows like Langit sa Piling Mo, Grazilda and Ang Yaman Ni Lola. She also worked for TV 5 as part of the cast of the television series Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak. She then appeared in the ABS CBN show Walang Hanggan playing the character of the younger Virginia Henya Cruz.
Sheryl Cruz also appeared in other television shows for GMA Network, ABS CBN and TV 5. To name some she made her appearance in the Ryzza Mae Show in 2013 as a guest for GMA, Apat na Maria in ABS CBN and Party Pilipinas. Her other television appearances include Maalaala Mo Kaya: Sanggol, Sarah G. Live, Isang Dakot Na Luha, Babaeng Hampaslupa, Langit sa Piling Mo, Diz Iz It, Rosalinda, Lobo, Komiks Presents: Varga, Sinasamba Kita, Mga Mata ni Anghelita, Startalk, Mulawin, Billy Bilyonaryo, Now and Forever: Tinig and Now and Forever: Ganti. She also recorded the Triplets album with Tina Paner and Sheryl Cruz entitled Mine, Mine, Mine, Must Be Heaven and The Greatest Love of All. She also has her own name titled album among which include Mr. Dreamboy, Too Young, Sabi ko Na Nga Ba, Memories, Sagot ng Puso, Someone That Is You and Fan Mail. She also recorded other albums like Walang Ganyanan and There’s No Place Like Home.
