Toni Gonzaga, a Filipina singer, TV host, actress and model was born Celestine Cruz “Toni” Gonzaga on January 20, 1984. She is the eldest daughter of Carlito and Cristina Gonzaga who acts as Toni’s talent manager. She has a younger sister named Catherine Gonzaga popularly known as Alex Gonzaga who is also an actress and TV host in TV5. Toni resides in Taytay Rizal. Despite her busy career she was elected as barangay kagawad for a term. Toni is also a Sunday school teacher in her hometown’s Evangelical Church.
Toni Gonzaga took up Mass Communication at the Dominican College for just two years and later on transferred to the Asian Institute For Distance Education where she shifted to the course AB English. Unfortunately she was not able to finish the said course because of her busy schedule. She again enrolled at the University of the Philippines Open University where she took up the course Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Studies.
She was first noticed singing contest Tanghalan ng Kampeon aired in GMA-7 where she was a contestant back in the year 1997 but did not win the competition. She started her career with GMA Network, and then later moved to ABS-CBN in 2005. Her biggest break in showbiz was with a TV ad for a soft drink with Piolo Pascual in 2001. In the same year she also released her first album Plaano and in 2002 she became one of the host of the long time variety show Eat Bulaga in GMA-7. In the same year she was cast in the primetime TV series Habang Kapiling Ka and in 2004 joined Wazzup Wazzup in Studio 23.
When Toni transferred to ABS-CBN she became one of the main hosts of the reality show Pinoy Big Brother and the Sunday’s musical variety show ASAP. In the same year she starred in the movie D’Anothers a comedy-horror film. Toni released her second album in 2006 and also starred in her first prime time drama series Crazy For You. She also starred in her second biggest role in the movie You Are The One.
Toni Gonzaga released her third album in 2007 and created another movie Falling In Love and You Got Me. After a few months Toni was awarded the Princess of Philippine Movies by the Guillermo Memorial Foundation Inc. for the movie You Are The One. Toni had her first major solo concert in 2008 and had a repeat in the same year. The release of her first major concert inspired her to release her fourth album entitled Love Is… After the release of her fourth album she again starred in the movie My Big Love and in the film My only U. She is currently hosting the talk show The Buzz and the reality show Pinoy Big Brother. She is also confirmed to be the main host of the Talent show, The Voice Philippines.
