Luis Manzano, a Filipino actor, TV host, VJ and model is born Luis Philippe Manzano on April 21, 1981 at San Juan City in Manila. Luis is also nicknamed Lucky and he is the only son of Vilma Santos, an award winning Filipina actress and Governor of the province of Batangas and Edu Manzano also an award winning actor. Luis is of Spanish descent. His parents separated at the age of three. Luis studied at De La Salle College of Saint Benilde and took up the course Hotel and Restaurant Institution Management but unfortunately did not finish the course. He is the step-son of Philippine senator, Ralph Recto and an older brother to Ryan Christian Recto.
Luis started out as a commercial and print ad model for a clothing brand, Human and later on pursued a career in TV hosting and acting under the management of ABS-CBN. Luis has been the longest acting VJ on MYX, a subsidiary music channel of ABS-CBN. Luis is known for his role in the TV series Komiks Presents: Flash Bomba as Roldan. Luis also had some exposures in some of ABS-CBN’s shows where he and his dad Edu usually appeared. Through these shows the network realized that Luis can act humorously and can make people laugh and because of this Luis was given a role in a comic show titled Bora. Luis is also a good dramatic actor. He was given a leading man role in the drama series Kampanerang Kuba. As a model, Luis was chosen as one of the sexiest bachelors in the Philippines in 2002 and posed provocatively for a top’s women’s magazine, Cosmopolitan. This was a shocker to both of his parents. Having the image as a wholesome-type of guy, Luis transformed into a more mature person. Luis’ transformation has resulted in many projects not only in the world of modeling but also for acting and hosting. Luis is known to excel in hosting; he is currently the host of the game shows Kapamilya Deal or No Deal, Minute To Win It and Pilipinas Got Talent. Being one of the most respected hosts in the Philippines, Luis, was given an award and recognition as the Most Promising Host.
Luis is currently in a relationship with actress Jennylyn Mercado and their relationship continues to grow stronger. Luis is known to be a good cook and he is a member of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity.
