Aiai Delas Alas reigns supreme as the Philippine Comedy Queen after making generations of Filipinos laugh through her decades-long career. Aiai entered showbiz in the ’90s in GMA then returned to her home network in 2015 when she starred in the romcom series “Let The Love Begin.” She has also landed main roles in various Kapuso shows such as “Hay Bahay,” “Sherlock Jr.,” “Owe My Love,” and “Raising Mamay.” Aiai continues to lend her own brand of comedy and industry expertise as one of the judges for the original Kapuso singing competition “The Clash.”
Aiai Delas Alas is an award-winning Filipino actress, comedian, host, entrepreneur, and performer who has starred in countless films and television series. She is best known for her role as Ina Montecillo in the Ang Tanging Ina movie installments. She is one of the judges of The Clash.
Aiai Delas Alas, a Filipino comedienne and host is born Martina Aileen de las Alas on 1964. She is the daughter of Engr. Rosenda de las Alas and Ai Ai was adopted by her father’s sister Justa delas Alas.She finished a course in Mass Communication at the Far Eastern University in 1985. Before she became a star, Ai Ai was working as a saleslady in a department store and also as a stand-up comedian in comedy bars along Manila. Ai Ai was married to Miguel Vera, a Filipino actor and together they have two children and she has a son from a previous relationship. She recently married Jed Salang in Las Vegas on April 3, 2013 who is 20 years younger.
Aiai Delas Alas dubbed as the Philippine Queen of Comedy and Comedy Concert Queen. She appeared in movies like Romeo and Juliet, Koronang Itim, Bitoy Ang Itawag Mo Sa Akin and Booba. Being the Comedy Queen of Philippine Cinemas these films Ai-Vira, Ilonggated Chin, Ai-Ai Saw Papa Kissing Santa Claus and Sister Actgained her praises and garnered good reviews. Ai Ai also hosted shows like Show And Tell, Actually Yun Na, Lunch Date and Golympics.
On her 10th year in showbiz, Aiai Delas Alas held a concert at the Folk Arts Theater in 1998 entitled Ai Ai…Respect Me! The concert proved to be very successful and affirmed her title as the The Philippine Comedy Concert Queen. A year later she had another successful concert, titled Seduct Me and performed another, Abuse Me in 2000.
In 2003, Aiai Delas Alas appeared in the blockbuster hit, Ang Tanging Ina. She gained nationwide celebration for this movie and due to the movie’s popularity; a TV series came out with Ai Ai taking the lead role. The movie received two more sequels, Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat andAng Tanging Ina Mo (Last na ‘To!). Ai Ai began making more movies like Volta, Ang Cute Ng Ina Mo, Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat , Kapag Tumibok Ang Puso (Not Once But Twice),Pasukob and Shake Rattle And Roll 2k5 and she became one of the lead hosts in the noon time show MTB: Ang Saya Saya and ETK (Entertainment Konek). She also played an important role in the drama series Bituing Walang Ningning.
In 2004, she signed released her first album entitled Tanging Ina Nyo under Star Records. The album featured six novelty songs including the song Tanging Ina Nyo. She is currently a judge of the Philippine talent show Pilipinas Got Talent which is aired on ABS-CBN.
