German Moreno, a Filipino television host, actor, comedian and talent manager, is also popularly known as Kuya Germs is born on October 4, 1943 in Manila Philippines. Kuya Germs’ father is of Spanish descent and his mother a Filipina. Kuya Germs is known to have discovered, build and nurture big stars in the Philippine world of showbiz.
Before he became what he is now, Kuya Germs started from humble beginnings. He was working as a janitor and a curtain raiser at the Clover Theater in Manila in the early 50’s when he saw a glimpse of the industry. He then worked hard and pursued to be a comedian on the vodavil stage, a popular pure entertainment stage performance. Kuya Germs worked his way up and his biggest break came in the 1970’s when he hosted GMA Supershow, a Sunday noontime variety show. He eventually became the producer of a youth oriented variety show, That’s Entertainment, a show that polished and launched new young stars. He is currently hosting a program on TV, Walang Tulugan With the Master Showman one of the longest running late night variety show on Philippine television.He spent most of his showbiz career with GMA 7.
Recently Kuya Germs celebrated his 50 Years in Showbiz. The biggest names in the Philippine entertainment industry have paid tribute to the one and only Master Showman. Well-known personalities gathered in the Newport Performing Arts Theater last April 24 for the celebration of his 50 years in showbiz. The day also marked the grand launch of the coffee table book titled Kuya Germs: 50 Years in Showbiz which was created by GMA Network in honor of German Moreno the Master Showman. The book contains the story of his life and how he worked his way up to success. He also has his own biggest awards from the show business industry that include the Best Supporting Actor from the FAMAS Award for the movie Paupahan, Best Variety Show Host awarded by the PMPC Star Awards for TV for 5 different years, and a winner for the Best Supporting Actor from the PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
