Filipina actress, host, and model Erich Gonzales, is Erika Chryselle Gonzales Gancayco in real life. She was born on September 20, 1990 in Cebu City but was raised in Davao City. The youngest of ten siblings, Erich entered show business at the age of 14 when she joined the reality talent search Star Circle Quest.
She won as Grand Questor in the second season of Star Circle Quest thus, making her as one of ABS-CBN’s talent. Since then, she can be seen in numerous television programs like Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit, Pieta, and Abt Ur Luv. Because of her busy schedule, Erich finished her high school years at ABS-CBN Distant Learning Center. She is now studying at the Trinity University of Asia where she takes up Mass Communication.
Erich’s big break came in 2009 when she starred as the lead role in the TV adaptation series of the film, Katorse. She played the character of a teenage mother alongside Enchong Dee, Ejay Falcon, and Xian Lim. She also made her debut in her first Indie film, Paano Ko Sasabihin? where she teamed up again with Enchong Dee. The said film became an official entry to the 2009 Cinema One Originals Film Festival which earned several awards.
Following her Katorse TV series, came another project for Erich. In 2010, she again became the lead role in the TV series, Tanging Yaman with her Katorse co-stars Enchong Dee and Ejay Falcon. She then began working for her third TV series project, Magkaribal while Tanging Yaman was still airing. Because of her impressive performances in her TV series, she signed a two-year contract with Star Cinema. Later that year, Erich made her first mainstream movie with loveteam Enchong Dee, entitled I Do. She also landed the lead role in another Indie film, Noy, with Coco Martin.
In 2011, Erich Gonzales again proved her worth in acting when she did the Filipino adaptation of Maria La del Barrio. It was also in the same year when they announced that she will be paired with Thai heartthrobMario Mauer in the movie, Suddenly It’s Magic. She also made horror movie with Derek Ramsay entitled Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang. At present, Erich is visible in the TV series Juan dela Cruz with actor Coco Martin.
Erich Gonzales was dubbed Philippines’ Sweetheart because of her bubbly and playful personality. She also earned the title Pinay Barbie and labeled the New Standard Beauty of Asia.
Among the movies that Erich took part in are Shake Rattle and Roll X, Paano Kita Iibigin, I Do, Suddenly It’s Magic, Paano Ko Sasabihin, Noy, Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang, Mariposa: (Sa Hawla ng Gabi), Pintakasi, and Love Me Again. She also had a share of appearances in television including her own drama series. Among them are Ok, Fine Ito Ang Gusto N’yo, ASAP Fanatic, Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit, M.R.S. (Most Requested Show), Carlo J. Caparas: Ang Panday, Calla Lily, Sana Maulit Muli, Super Inggo 1.5, Kung Fu Kids, Magkaribal, Katorse, Maria La Del Barrio, and Star Circle National Teen Quest.
Erich Gonzales is also a recipient of several awards like Grand Teen Questor (Star Circle Quest), Breakthrough Star of 2009, German Moreno Youth Achievement Award, 100 Most Beautiful Stars of 2011, 2010 Face of the Year (Teens), and Philippine Box Office Queen for Digital Independent Film.
