Considered as one of the sexiest Filipina actresses in the world of Philippine entertainment, Rosemarie Joy Garcia, also popularly known as Diana Zubiri was born on April 15, 1985 in Bulacan, Philippines. . When she was just barely eight years old, Diana’s father left her and another sister on her mother’s care. Her mother has only a sari-sari store for a living. After some time, they transferred to Quezon City and rented a house, where Diana grew up. Eventually her mother found a new partner.
When she was 15 years old, she was applying for Japan when Seiko Films took notice of her. This was an opportunity she grabbed and started doing sexy roles in several movies produced by the production outfit. In 2002, Diana bravely posed for a pictorial on top of the flyover in EDSA wearing a skimpy two-piece bikini fro a men’s magazine. The event made her famous all over the country because it really made big news on national TV. Mr. Benhur Abalos, the then Mayor of the City promptly filed charges against Diana Zubiri and FHM (a Men’s Magazine) for creating controversy on a public place. It was later dismissed after a public apology from Diana and the rest of the FHM management.
By the start of 2005, Diana Zubiri was starting to shy away from sexy and daring roles and showcased her acting talent instead. In the TV series “Linlang,” she portrayed the role of Divina, and in “Encantadia,” she was Danaya. GMA Network helped her move on from the stigma of being a bold actress. She was also given roles in the comedy show “Bubble Gang,” which stars Ogie Alcasid and Michael V. Diana even showcased her dramatic skills in the drama anthology series “Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita,” and “Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan.”
Diana Zubiri had almost 12 years of working under GMA Network before she decided to transfer with ABS-CBN with a three year exclusive contract. Way back then, she was an aspiring applicant at ABS-CBN but was often rejected. She was very young then. In the middle of her acting career in 2008, Diana met somebody by the name of Alex Lopez. Unfortunately her husband died from cirrhosis of the liver in 2010. In order to help her move on, she continued her studies and is now in her third year taking up Theater Arts.
Last year, Diana Zubiri won a Best Actress award in the indie movie “Bahay Bata” for her outstanding performance from the Young Critics Circle. She was also nominated as Best Actress in the Urian Awards for the same movie. She considers these a milestone in her acting career. Now, Diana is gradually being recognized as one of the talented actresses in Philippine entertainment.
