Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco popularly known as Charice was born on May 10, 1992 in San Pedro Laguna. She is known to her family and friends as Ming. She is a Filipino singer who was an Internet sensation and now a global star. Charice started singing at the age of four. She competed in shows like Little Big Star. She was thirteen when she became an Internet sensation via YouTube wherein she received millions of hits. Because of this she appeared in a Korean Variety show Star King where she amazed the audiences with her one of a kind and powerful voice.
Her videos on YouTube have led to her appearance in the popular shows Oprah and Ellen. According to Oprah Winfrey, Charice is the most talented girl in the world and promised to support her singing career. The legendary David Foster became her mentor and also promised to transform Charice into a popular international superstar. Charice was involved in David Foster’s tribute album, Hit Man: David Foster And Friends. Her first international album titled Charice was released in the year 2010. This album was able to reach number eight in the Billboard 200 which made Charice the first Asian solo singer to make it to the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Her most successful single is title Pyramid which introduced Ivaz also a singer. Among her albums that were released are: Before it Explodes which was written by Bruno Mars and a single Louder written by Andy ThiHy in the year 2011. She also was a guest- performer in big concerts like Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli.
Aside from being an amazing singer she could also act. She appeared in shows like Glee playing the character of Sunshine Corazon, Here Comes The Boom with actor comedian Kevin James and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. She is also a good host and mentor. In March 2012 she signed a contract with ABS-CBN to act as one of the four judges in the Philippine version of The X Factor.
