Charlene Mae Gonzales Bonnin-Muhlach, popularly known as Charlene Gonzales was born on May 1, 1974 to actor Bernard Bonnin and model Elvira Gonzales and a sister to Richard Bonnin, actor. She was married to actor Aga Muhlach on May 28, 2001 and had twins in the same year, Andres and Atasha.
She won the Binibining Pilipinas-Universe in 1994 and represented the Philippines in the glamorous 43rdMiss Universe Pageant was hosted by the Philippines. The pageant was held in Manila, Philippines on May 20, 1994 at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center. This was the same year that Manila once again hosted the pageant after 20 years from 1974. She took home the Best National Costume and was able to get into the top 6 finalists. Although she was not able to gain the crown, Charlene made the people of the Philippines proud with her beauty and intelligence. Charlene later on becoming active in Television and Films take up supporting roles and hosting talk shows. She has also been an active endorser commercial model of distinguished products.
Among the shows she appeared at are Feel at Home with Charlene from 2002 to 2004, At Home Ka Dito 2004 to 2007, Proudly Filipina 2007 and The Buzz from 2007 to present. She also appeared in a number of films. To name a few are Ikaw Ang Miss Universe Ng Bukay Ko in 1994, P’re Hanggang Sa Huli in 1995, Resbak and Bridesmaids in 1997.
Charlene Gonzales finished her elementary and high school at the Bishop Amat in California. She later pursued her studies at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and finished a degree in B.S. Psychology. She had plans of pursuing her studies to medicine however show business took most of her time. However, despite of a hectic schedule, she was able to pursue continuing studies through a one-on-one Mentorship Program at Asian Institute of Management, focusing on Business Management and Entrepreneurship. In 2009, with the blessing of her husband Aga Muhlach, she flew back to the US to pursue her studies at Harvard School of Business to pursue her further studies in Business Management Entrepreneurship course.
At present, she is actively hosting The Buzz with Boy Abunda. Apart from her hosting career, she actively supports her husband Aga Muhlach who has plans of filing his candidacy for Congressman at the 4th District of Camarines Sur under the Administration Liberal Party with President Noynoy Aquino.
