Angelica David Panganiban, popularly known as Angelica Panganiban was born on November 4, 1986 in Payatas, Caloocan City, her hometown. Her biological mother of Filipino descent died in 2008 and her father was an American named Mark Charlson. Her surname Panganiban is from her adoptive family. She is a movie and TV actress, print and commercial model and comedienne in the Philippines. Angelica finished her grade school at St. Vincent located at Teacher’s Village Quezon City in 1999. She also graduated secondary schooling at the same school in 2003. She pursued college at the Thames International Business School and took a major in Mass Communication and later on took up Culinary Arts in Global City Innovative College.
Angelica is a member of Star Magic an ABS-CBN elite members or circle of homegrown talents. Her career started at the age of six appearing in the TV show Love Note. Her first regular television show was Ang TV which aired on ABS-CBN. Her first movie role was on the film Antipolo Massacre. She also appeared in shows like: Separada, Sarah Ang Munting Prinsesa, Ama, Ina Anak. With these movies she awards and nominations as Best Child Actress in the FAMAS Awards and PMPC Star Awards. During her early years in showbiz she played roles in the television series G-mik and Berks. In the year 2003 she appeared in the film Ang Tanging Ina a comedy film that became a hit and also appearing in the film Mano Po III: My Love in 2004. In the same year she made the film Santa Santita wherein she was the lead and had the title role. Her appearance and performance in that film made her earn three Best Actress nominations in the FAMAS, ENPRESS Golden Screen Awards and in the FAP Luna Awards.
In the following year she also appeared and played the lead role in a drama series, Mangarap Ka. She also starred in another drama Series like Vietnam Rose also of the same year. Her career flourished in the succeeding years. In 2006 she regularly appeared in the series Your Song, Komiks and Love Spell. She also played a role in the movie White Lady, Rounin, and Love Story where she grabbed the award of Best Supporting Actress in the FAP Luna Awards. She also appeared in Ysabella and Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik. In 2008 she played a role in the primetime drama series, IIsa Pa Lamang and earning the title: Villain of the Year in the 1st Supreme to the Extreme Awards and Best Drama Actress nomination in the 23rd PMPC Star Awards for Television because of that series. In 2008 she was a cat in the comedy gag show, Banana Split.
In 2009 she also played in the television series Rubi which aired its pilot episode in 2010. Through this series she received the Best Actress in a Daily Soap Opera Award at the 7thUSTv Students’ Choice Awards. Angelica also starred in the movie I Love You, Goodbye which was rated the Second Best Picture in 2009 in the Metro Manila Film Festival. In the same year she was nominated for Best Comedy Actress in the PMPC Star Awards for television. Other movies that came were Here Comes The Bride, Bulong, Segunda Mano, Every Breath You Take and in an Indie film Madaling Araw, Mahabang Gabi. Angelica is best known for her versatility as an actress wherein she could portray the role of a protagonist and antagonist at the same time.
