Kristina Bernadette Cojuangco Aquino popularly known as Kris Aquino was born on February 14, 1971 is a popular and prominent TV and movie personality in Philippine show business. She is the youngest of four siblings of former Senator Benigno S. Aquino Jr. and the late 11th President of the Republic of the Philippines Corazon Cojuanco-Aquino. She is the youngest sister of our current President Benigno S. Aquino III. Kris spent most of her grade school in America because their family was in exile in the US during those years. After her father’s assassination in 1983, Kris returned to the Philippines where she became a continuous presence at rallies against the Marcos rule.
In 1986 after the Edsa Revolution which removed Marcos from his presidency, Kris being a teenager during those years started to be noticed as a celebrity. She began to have guest spots on TV dramas and comedies and even talk shows. Her film debut was with the late comedian Rene Requiestas in the comedy film PidoDida. This movie was her big break. Among her movies that followed next were: The Fatima Buen Story, The Vizconde Massacre in which she adopted the name “Massacre Queen” by many newspaper critics. In 1992 Kris graduated at the Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Bachelor of Arts with a degree in English Literature.
At present Kris is also called and known as the Queen of All Media, Philippine Queen of Talk and Queen of Philippine Game Shows. She made the movie FengShui and So Happy Together which became a box office hit and gave her the title, Box Office Queen. In 2006 she made the movie Sukob which has become the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time. Aside from being a showbiz personality Kris is also the Executive Editor of her own Magazine named The Kris Aquino Magazine. In December 2009 she also came up with K Everyday which featured her own home collection. This is in partnership with the ABS-CBN licensing. This feature cooking, stationery and plastic collection. Among her talk and game shows include: Game KNB, Morning Girls With Kris and Korina,The Buzz, Pilipinas Game KNB?, Deal Or No Deal. She is also given the title “Commercial Princess of the Philippines” because of her numerous commercial and print appearances. She is currently signed up with ABS-CBN and also residing in Makati with her two sons Joshua from her then live-in partner Philip Salvador and Bimby from her former husband James Yap.
