Carla Angeline Reyes Abellana is the real name of Carla Abellana, a popular Filipina actress and commercial model who was born on June 12, 1986 in Manila, Philippines. She studied at De La Salle University, Manila. Her father is Rey PJ Abellana, also a famous Filipino actor and her mother’s name is Aurea Reyes. Carla’s grandmother is also a Filipina veteran actor with a German-Filipino-Spanish descent.
She started her career as a commercial model, and endorser of products such as Pantene shampoo, Jollibee Ice Craze, Beverly Hills 6750, Nestle Magic Sarap, Bench Clothing line, Ponds among others. She had played the lead role of a Mexican Telenovela in a Filipino version “Rosalinda,” which was aired over GMA 7. In the teleserye entitled “Zorro,” she was chosen as one of the leading ladies of actor Richard Gutierrez after a tight audition. She had also appeared in “Basahang Ginto,” also in GMA 7.
Carla had also co-hosted in a Sunday variety show also of GMA 7, “SOP Rules,” and “Starstruck Season 5,”and “Party Pilipinas.” She had also hosted “Binibining Pilipinas 2010,” opposite Dingdong Dantes, also in GMA 7. Carla is an exclusive talent of Regal Films in which she had signed a 12-picture contract with the said film productions. “Mamarazzi,” was her first movie under Regal along with Eugene Domingo, Andi Eigenmann among others. “Shake, Rattle and Roll XII,” was her first horror movie, which was an entry to the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival. It was followed up by “My Neighbor’s Wife,” opposite Lovi Poe, Dennis Trillo and Jake Cuenca which were considered her most sexy and daring movie. She had again appeared as lead roles in the movies “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,” with Diamond Star Maricel Soriano and dramatic actor Gabby Concepcion and “Manila Kingpin: Asiong Salonga Story,” with leading man Gov. E.R. Ejercito.
Carla’s had a boyfriend Geoff Eigenmann who is also a Filipino actor. They complement each other because of their good looks, competent acting skills, and they are both from a clan of famous actors and actresses. And they both are fond of animals, specifically, cats and dogs. Although very much in love with each other, they still do not have plans for a wedding. The couple is still keen of focusing on their acting career and taking their time enjoying each other’s company.
Carla comments that Geoff is the most real person she had ever met. Although he is difficult and their interest clashes at times, yet they take it as a challenge instead and always try to overcome and learn from them. Carla is already considered a family to Eigenmann’s in the same way Geoff is also accepted by Carla’s family. They had become closer because of this, and are getting to know more of each other every day.
Carla is a part of the teleserye in GMA 7 entitled “My Husband’s Lover,” who is gaining popularity even only a month of airing. The show is trending in social networking sites and continues to be one of the top rated shows of GMA 7.
