Tirso Silvano Cruz III, or simply known as Tirso Cruz III is a Filipino actor and musician. He was born on April 1, 1952 and is considered one of the most famous actors in Philippine show business. He is married to LynYnchausti-Cruz, whom he has two sons, TJ and Bodgie, and a daughter named, Djanin. Tirso is also the uncle of the famous Cruz girls in showbiz industry– Sheryl, Sunshine, Geneva, and Donna Cruz. He used to be Roman Catholic but later converted into born -again Christian like the rest of his family.

“Pip” as most of his friends call him, was superstar Nora Aunor’s love team during their younger days. ‘Guy and Pip’ as they were popularly known was the most famous love team that time. Tirso and Nora worked together in different movies like My Little Brown Girl, Together Again, Young Love (alongside VIlma Santos and Edgar Mortiz), A Gift of Love, and I Can’t Stop Loving You among others. Tirso was managed by the late Douglas Quijano and was later become popular for his villainous and supportive roles both in television and film. At present, Tirso is still active in show business. He recently has been one of the casts of ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida Teleserye, Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw. He portrayed the role of Rodrigo Manrique, father of Roxanne and Ruth Manrique(Kris Aquino and Anne Curtis).

He also proved his great acting ability by portraying various roles in different television programs such as Valiente, Lorenzo’s Time, Huwag Kang Mawawala, Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, Budoy, 100 Days to Heaven, I Heart You Pare, Etheria, Magpakailanman Man, Nasaan Ka Maruja, Lupin, and many more.He received two Best Actor Awards from FAMAS and FAP for his movie ‘Bilangin Mo Ang Bituin Sa Langit’. He also got a Best Supporting Actor Award from GAWAD Urian for the movie ‘Kahit Buhay Ko’; Star Awards for Movies’ Actor of The Year (1990);22nd PMPC Awards for Television Best Drama Actor for Kaputol ng Isang Awit; and 1997 PMPC Star Awards for Television Best Drama Actor for Valiente.Tirso also got seven nominations most of them are from GAWAD Urian.

Originally, the Cruz Family was popular as singers and musicians who enjoyed playing instruments and composing songs as well. This is the family where Tirso Cruz III was born. Tirso Silvano Cruz in real life, he was born on April 1, 1952 and considered as one of the legendary actors in the field of Filipino entertainment. His marriage to Lyn Ynchausti-Cruz bore with them three beautiful children, two boys and a daughter namely TJ, Bodgie and Djanin respectively. His nephews are also equally famous, proving the Cruzes are born with the much given talent in singing and acting. They are Sheryl Cruz, Sunshine Cruz, Geneva and Donna Cruz who have also their share of abilities to prove their worth in the showbiz world.

Tirso Cruz started his career as the superstar Nora Aunor’s love team in happier days in early 70’s. He has a pet name “Pip,” who was famously associated with the “Guy and Pip” tandem which was considered the Philippine’s most celebrated in the history of Philippine cinema. He was formerly managed by Douglas Quijano who made sure he will be successful in pursuing his acting career. Tirso and Nora starred in countless movie hits such as “My Little Brown Girl,” “Together Again,” “Young Love,” “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” among others.

Tirso Cruz has become an icon in show business. He is still very active and therefore given more TV and movie projects because many still believe in his talent. He has been appearing in various roles either as a villain or supporting characters which he had portrayed with ease and professionalism. And for these reasons he had been recognized by receiving two Best Actor Awards from distinguished critics FAMAS and FAP for his movie “Bilangin Mo Ang Bituin Sa Langit.” Gawad Urian won him Best Supporting Actor Award for a role he portrayed in the movie “Kahit Buhay Ko.” In 1990, he was given the award Actor of the Year from the Star Awards for Movies. At the 22nd PMPC Awards for Television, he received the Best Drama Actor trophy for his exceptional role in “Kaputol ng Isang Awit.” In 1997, “Valiente” won him another Best Drama Actor Award from the PMPC Star Awards for Television. Indeed, these awards from the different award giving bodies became an inspiration for Tirso Cruz to still improve his craft and continue to learn and do his best to any role he is requested.

Recently, he had participations in ABS-CBN’s Teleserye “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” as Rodrigo Manrique. He is also included in “Huwag ka lang Mawawala,” a newly launched Teleserye starring Judy Ann Santos. Several Movies he had been appearing with are “Alfredo Lim: The Untold Stories,” ”Sisterakas,” “In My Life,” “ When I Met You,” “Mano Po 5,” “Pacquiao The Movie,” “Can This Be Love,” “Bahay Ni Lola,””Hiling,” Pag-Ibig Ko Sa Yo Totoo,” and “Ibulong Mo Sa Diyos.” Tirso Cruz III has been grateful for the blessings he had been receiving. He and his family are God-fearing individuals who regard being Christians as the biggest blessing from God.
