Tirso Silvano Cruz III, or simply known as Tirso Cruz III is a Filipino actor and musician. He was born on April 1, 1952 and is considered one of the most famous actors in Philippine show business. He is married to LynYnchausti-Cruz, whom he has two sons, TJ and Bodgie, and a daughter named, Djanin. Tirso is also the uncle of the famous Cruz girls in showbiz industry– Sheryl, Sunshine, Geneva, and Donna Cruz. He used to be Roman Catholic but later converted into born -again Christian like the rest of his family.
“Pip” as most of his friends call him, was superstar Nora Aunor’s love team during their younger days. ‘Guy and Pip’ as they were popularly known was the most famous love team that time. Tirso and Nora worked together in different movies like My Little Brown Girl, Together Again, Young Love (alongside VIlma Santos and Edgar Mortiz), A Gift of Love, and I Can’t Stop Loving You among others. Tirso was managed by the late Douglas Quijano and was later become popular for his villainous and supportive roles both in television and film. At present, Tirso is still active in show business. He recently has been one of the casts of ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida Teleserye, Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw. He portrayed the role of Rodrigo Manrique, father of Roxanne and Ruth Manrique(Kris Aquino and Anne Curtis).

He also got a Best Supporting Actor Award from GAWAD Urian for the movie ‘Kahit Buhay Ko’; Star Awards for Movies’ Actor of The Year (1990);22nd PMPC Awards for Television Best Drama Actor for Kaputol ng Isang Awit; and 1997 PMPC Star Awards for Television Best Drama Actor for Valiente.Tirso also got seven nominations most of them are from GAWAD Urian.

At the 22nd PMPC Awards for Television, he received the Best Drama Actor trophy for his exceptional role in “Kaputol ng Isang Awit.” In 1997, “Valiente” won him another Best Drama Actor Award from the PMPC Star Awards for Television. Indeed, these awards from the different award giving bodies became an inspiration for Tirso Cruz to still improve his craft and continue to learn and do his best to any role he is requested.
Recently, he had participations in ABS-CBN’s Teleserye “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” as Rodrigo Manrique. He is also included in “Huwag ka lang Mawawala,” a newly launched Teleserye starring Judy Ann Santos.
