Maui Taylor was born on March 1, 1981 and Maureen Anne Rodriguez Tupaz in real life. Maui is a Filipino singer, actress and model and comes from a Filipino and English lineage. She was born and grew up in England until she was six years old and had three siblings of which she is the youngest. Her parents are Ricardo and Annette Taylor. Her father was a landscape artist then. They returned to the Philippines with her mother and sisters. She studied at STI and earned a degree in computer programming and graduate as Summa cum Laude.
Maui’s joining the Philippine entertainment was when her cousin who was a member of a dance group helped her. She was given a role of the TV soap opera entitled “Anna Karenina,” when she was only 14 years old. Her appearance in this particular drama series gave her the opportunity to star in several projects. In 2002, she had her first major break in the movie “Gamitan,” which was considered a blockbuster film. In the same year, she was the cover girl in FHM Philippine Edition, in the April 2002 issue. Her other movies were “Tatarin,” and “S2pid Luv,” under Viva Films. She had also starred in “Hibla,” and in 2003, she was included in the movie “Sex Drive.” Maui was first nominated as Best Actress in her movie entitled “Ang Huling Birhen Sa Lupa,” opposite sexy star Ara Mina. Again, Viva films gave her lead roles in the movies “Masamang Ugat,”and “Bugbog Sarado.”
