The Carlos Agassi’s real name is Amir Carlos Damaso Vahidi Agassi. He was born on December 12, 1979 in Makati City, Philippines. He is a Filipino model, actor, rap artist, TV host and comedian. He was a talent of Star Magic Batch 3 under ABS-CBN management. He is also a member of an ‘all boys’ group called The Hunks, with Piolo Pascual, Diether Ocampo, Bernard Palanca and Jericho Rosales as members. Carlos had also played major roles such as “Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan” in 2001 opposite Claudine Barreto. He was also one of the hosts in the Sunday variety show “ASAP,” and hosted a comedy practical joke show entitled “Victim,” also in ABS-CBN. Carlos had studied Psychology in De La Salle University.
Carlos took a two year break from the movie industry and in 2010; he made a comeback via “Agua Bendita,” where he was given a villain role. He was rumored dead because of too much anabolic steroids, and allegedly before his death, he was undergoing dialysis because of kidney failure. Of course, Carlos denied this, stating he had been bodybuilding since he was only sixteen years old.
Carlos was also famously called the “Prince of Philippine Rap,” where he encountered negative criticisms by old time rappers. Carlos felt he was insulted because there are lyrics in the rap songs of Loonie D-Coy that talks about Carlos negatively. It was also rumored that Carlos filed a suit in this connection but later agreed about settlements. Carlos has two brothers namely Aaron and Michael who are also singers like him. Aaron released his album entitled “Right Next to Me,” in 2006 under the management of Universal Records and Michael was in “Qpids,” a reality loveteam search in TV5. Later, Michael met Cherry Lou and eventually married her.
He was only a third year high school at OB Montessori when a talent manager approached him if he is interested to do some print ads modeling. He politely declined because still at a young age, he was not really aware what modeling career is all about. They met in a hangout called Fridays’, one of their favorite hangouts. Again, Carlos and Rapi Revilla, the talent manager who owns a commercial talent agency, met and for the fifth time, Carlos gave modeling a try. It was a 4 hour photo shoot and he was given a talent fee in the amount of P8, 000.00. The opportunity opened doors for him to do more commercials and modeling, and by the time he was 16 years old, he was already endorsing the brand “Bench” in the international market.
Carlos had this passion for singing, as heard in his first rap album entitled “Amir of Rap,” which has the carrier single ‘Magpakatoto ka.” Amir is a nickname which means Prince, which is fondly used by close friends and family to call Carlos. Carlos personality traits reflect that of a happy and contented person. He was involved in a drug campaign against drugs in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines together with his friends to express his concern to the youth sector of the community.
His hobbies include playing tennis, basketball, bowling, and when time allows, he sees to it he spends quality time with his brothers just malling around, watching movies or listening to hip-hop music.
