Angelika dela Cruz is a Filipina actress and singer. Her real name is Maria Lourdes Egger dela Cruz, born on October 29, 1981 to parents Ernie Dela Cruz and Italian-Australian mother Angelica Egger. She has 3 other siblings. Her younger sister, Mika is also an actress, and brothers Erick and Edward (deceased) who is a member of the Freshmen band as one of the lead vocals. Angelika is also the owner of Starz Bar and Restaurant. Angelika is married to Orion Casareo, a Filipino business man. Together they have a son named Gabriel.
Angelika Dela Cruz started her appearance in Nights of Serafina with Georgia Ortega. The film has gathered good critiques and even gained her way to her Best New Actress of the Year for the movie “Nights of Serafina” by the PMPC Star Awards for Movies in 1997. She was noticed by ABS-CBN and then was a cast in the soap series Mara Clara together with Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes. Eventually she was paired to Jericho Rosales and together they have made movies and appeared in several TV shows.
She also ventured with the GMA network where she also appeared in numerous shows and afternoon soaps and miniseries. She was able to work with top veteran actress Lorna Tolentino in Liwanag ng Hatinggabi and Umalan man o Umaraw. She took the lead role in an afternoon soap, Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin which hit good ratings and eventually she was called the Soap Opera Princess of GMA Network.
At present, Angelika’s career has moved fairly, revolved in playing supporting, lead and villainous roles which has proven her versatility as an actress. Her career in acting has flourished however Angelika’s passion in singing has never been given up. She was able to release a 10-track self titled album with BMG Records and My Only Wish. Imperial Records took her to record a few songs which lead her popularity in Japan. Her singing career went to a pause to give way to her acting career. In 2006, she was included in the soundtrack of Bituing Walang Ningning, recorded two songs Miss Na Miss Kita and Dito Ba?
Among the recent films she appeared at are An Angel’s Tale by DLSC-St. Benilde Myray Production in 2012, Babang Luksa by Creative Minds Production in 2011, Hari ng Selda: Anak Ni Baby Ama2 under Viva Films in 2002, S2pid Luv under the same production in 2002 and Deathrow under GMA films in year 2000. This year she is actively taking part in Mundo Mo’y Akin with GMA Network.
