Born on February 18, 1976, Bernadette Lorraine Palisada Sembrano Aguinaldo is a famous reporter, newscaster and a television host in Philippine media. She is known as simply Bernadette Sembrano or Ate B, and a cousin of another newscaster Stanley Palisada. She spent her elementary and high school education in Angelicum School, now called Angelicum College in Quezon City, Philippines. Bernadette graduated from the University of the Philippines in Diliman and earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Her broadcasting career started with the International Broadcasting Corporation in 1988. In the year 2000, she transferred to GMA Network and hosted “Wish ko Lang,” which is the first wishing program in Philippine media and television history. The reason of her moving on to ABS-CBN was an expose’ she made on a certain graft and corruption case of a particular government official in which the network delayed the airing and eventually placed a disclaimer that made Bernadette walked out on an evening newscast. It was then that GMA terminated her contract, but she finished her commitment on “Wish Ko Lang,” until February 14, 2004. ABS-CBN heard what happened and tried to offer an OFW Drama Anthology “Nagmamahal Kapamilya” in which she will be the host. She was also offered to co-host in a morning show entitled “Magandang Umaga Pilipinas,” and be one of the correspondents in one of the longest and reputable investigative journalism show, “The Correspondents.” At present, she is also a co-host of “Salamat, Dok,” a show which focuses on current affairs about medicine and health issues.
Bernadette Sembrano is also visible in other news and current affairs, and radio station programs such as ‘TV Patrol Weekend,” Radyo Patrol Alas Dose,” “Gising Pilipinas,” with Nelson Lubao and also in “Radyo patrol Alas Kuwatro,” with Alex Santos replacing Jasmin Romero. Presently, she remains a co-host in ‘Umagang Kay Ganda,” with Anthony Taberna.
Aside from a media personality, she is Mrs. Emilio ‘Orange” Aguinaldo IV, married to the great-grandson of the first President of the Philippines, Emilio Aguinaldo, and a co-owner and founder of a bookstore which features and specializes in hard-to-find books located in Quezon City, Philippines. Her classmates in college and some colleagues in the media formed the partnership.
Bernadette Sembrano in all humility is an award winning news and broadcast personality with several awards in her name. She has this gift immediately connecting with people after only a brief introduction. It is with this gift that Bernadette hopes to help others, to clear issues that have been overlooked and find solutions to unanswered problems.
Bernadette shares that she had a personal dream to write a book of her own which will focus on compilation of all of the advocacies in the country. This is for the reason that there are more people who also want and have the capacity to help, only they do not know who, where and how to contact whom. She visualizes that someday, if this book can be possible, then it can serve as a channel and reference.
