Jose Garchitorena Yllana, Jr. or known by the people as Anjo Yllana was born on April 24, 1968. He is the eldest among four brothers. His brothers Jomari and Ryan are also part of show business. His wife was an actress Jacqui Manzano-Yllana, now a flight attendant with whom he has four children; Mikaela, Andeem, Jaimee and Nathan. It was rumored that his relationship with Jacqui were on the rocks because of an issue that involved the name of Jaqui to a married politician. Eventually, the issue had been settled and talked about. Right now they are back in each other’s arms.
Anjo Yllana was a member of afternoon teen show That’s Entertainment hosted by Kuya Germs or German Moreno. He started in films playing supporting roles in comedy and drama. In a film Itanong mo sa Buwan opposite Jaclyn Jose, directed by Chito Rono, he was nominated Best Supporting Actor. He is a member of the Scouts Royale Brotherhood (SRB) International Service Fraternity and Sorority, Alpha Delta Chapter.
Since 1984, at the start of his career in show business, he was managed by the late Douglas Quijano. In 1990, he played Dino Tengco, a retarded son of a weird politician couple, Barbara and Anding Tengco of the sitcom, Abangan Ang Susunod na Kabanata for ABS-CBN. For his efforts, he received The Best Comedy Actor by Star Award in 1992. He got lead roles as a solo comedian in movies such as Dino Abangan ang Susunod Na, Pempe ni Sara at Pen and Milyonaryng Mini.
Among the television shows he was part of was Ober da Bakod and Palibhasa Lalake, Beh Bote Nga, Nuts Entertainment and Cool Center. Anjo also ventured into TV directing through GMA-7’s television sitcom “M.U.?”. Among the movies he appeared in are Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak!, Enteng Kabisote: Okay ka fairy, The legend, Pandoy,Hari ng Yabang, Isa, Dalawa, Takbo! Milyonaryong Mini, Ober da bakod 2, Pulis Patola 2, Best Friends, Si Ayala at si Zobel, Ober da bakod: The Movie, Chickboy, Pulis Patola, Dino, abangan ang susunod na…, Gagay: Prinsesa ng brownout, Mama’s Boys, Sobra talaga… Overr!! and Guwapings: The First Adventure. He is presently one of the regular hosts of the longest running noon time show, Eat Bulaga.
He has ventured into politics that won him a seat as a councilor in Paranaque, year 1998. He was able to hold his position for 3 terms and then decided to run for the Vice Mayorship in 2004 from which he also won. He lost the last 2007 and 2010 elections for councilor but plans to run again as a councilor; however this time it would be in Quezon City.
