Eugene Domingo, born on July 23, 1971, is an award winning Filipino actress in movies and theaters. She is also a comedian and a host. She finished her studies at the University of the Philippines with a degree in Theater Arts. Eugene is one actress that turns in stunning performances in any role or genre given to her. She came to be known as Ai-Ai delas Alas side kick in the Filipino series of film, Ang Tanging Ina. She has appeared in her first lead role in Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme in 2009 and followed by a sequel in 2012.
Eugene Domingo appeared in over 60 films which include her minor roles in the beginning of her acting career. Her Best Supporting Actress Award was granted through Bahay Kubo, Pisay, Foster Child and 100 among others. Her Best Actress Award was granted through Ang Babae Sa Septic tank, a Cinemalaya entry which is the highest grossing Filipino independent film ever recorded. The film was also nominated in various prestigious International award winning bodies such as the Vancouver International Film Festival, Pusan International Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, and Far East Asian Film Festival in Italy. It was also chosen to represent the Philippines in the 84th Academy Awards – Best Foreign Language Film category.
Eugene Domingo is the only actress in the history of Philippine Show Business who holds the record of appearing in six films within one year namely Working Girls 2010, Here Comes the Bride, Mamarazzi, Petrang Kabayo, RPG: Metanoia, Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na ‘To!) and produced by eight known production companies in the country namely GMA Films, Regal Films, Unitel Productions, OctoArts Films, Quantum Films, VIVA Films, Ambient Media, Star Cinema. She is also the only lead actress who starred in most films (seven films) within a year. She also received the Best Actress in a Theater role at the 25th Aliw Awards in 2012 through the play Bina which was produced by PETA or Philippine Educational Theater Association.
It was an arguable statement among the press and critics that Eugene Domingo is among the most important actresses in the Philippine Entertainment Industry today. Throughout her years being an actress, she has proven her worth, starting from humble beginnings and slowly building her own pillar of fame.
