The real name of Pinky Webb is Joanna Marie Pagaspas Webb, born on June 11, 1970. She is a Filipina news anchor over ABS-CBN, ANC and radio station DZMM, all under ABS-CBN management. Her father is the equally famous former PBA player, former Philippine Senator and TV personality Freddie Webb. Her brothers are also popular in their own rights, Jason Webb who was a former PBA player and is now a sportscaster and a councilor and Hubert Webb. Pinky had studied at Colegio de San Agustin, and pursued her college degree in AB Psychology and shifted to an AB Management at De La Salle University. She then went to UCLA and California State Long Beach and studied a few courses on journalism for a semester.
She co-hosted and anchored ABS-CBN’s morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda” and “Tambalang Failon at Webb,” together with Ted FAilon on DZMM. She had also anchored “Dateline Philippines” over ANC, another subsidiary of ABS-CBN. Pinky also co-hosted “XXX: Exclusibong, Explosibong, Expose.” Pinky was given her first individual award by 9th Gawad Tanglaw as “Best Radio Anchor,” and “Best Female Morning Show Host,” in the first MNP Awards. This year, she received an award as the “Best TV Anchor,” for “TV Patrol Weekend,” in the 2013 11th Gawad Tanglaw.
Pinky was a former girlfriend of Edu Manzano. They broke up when Edu decided to run for the vice-presidency position in the May 2010 elections. They were together for 5 years, and Pinky did not even give a hint of regret, stressing that they are still in good terms up to now. She also admitted that she treasures most her privacy and makes it a point that she continues to be a private person, in her personal affairs and family.
And Pinky had earned the respect of her colleagues, because she is the just the right media personality that has the measure of breeding. In the world of Philippine news of entertainment any news can be considered a scoop and even news personalities had their own chance of fame and fortune that preyed on anything sensational. But Pinky never stoops to that level, instead opted to be quietly working with the proper and appropriate ethics a media personality should be. If she wanted an instant popularity, she had done it so, because her family is already news in itself. Yet, Pinky stuck on her professionalism and did not even move a finger to put herself in the news. Instead, she continued to be an example to other medial personality; the one who can deal and handle herself with grace, dignity and such class without forgetting the values and ethics she puts in her profession.
Pinky projects that woman who is strong and decisive to put a wall between privacy and work. Her recent awards prove that she has gained the trust of the people and her work had paid off. Pinky is still very active as a TV host and anchor, in different programs in ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries.
