Alejandro Ilagan “Kim” Atienza popularly known as Kuya Kim was born on January 6, 1967. He is a Filipino host, actor, commercial and print ad model and weatherman. Kim is the eldest son of former Manila Mayor LitoAtienza. Kim is married to Fely Hung the president and founding member of the Chinese International School Manila Foundation (CISM). He has three children with Fely namely Jose III, Meimei and Eman. Kim loves to join marathons and he loves cycling. He was a co-owner of the famous resort True Home Hotel in Boracay but later on sold his shares. He started appearing in TV when he began to host Magandang Umaga Pilipinas’s Animalandia until he became the resident weather man of TV Patrol.
In 2009 he left the morning show and worked as a noon time host called Showtime. He is still currently a co-host for the said noontime show. He also began hosting Matanglawin an educational show in 2008 and continues to air on ABS-CBN. This program showcases interesting and fun discoveries in nature, several natural and environmental phenomena. Here is a list of some of his television series: Umagang Kay Ganda (2007), TV patrol as segment anchor in 1987 and Muscles in Motion (1985) In 2010 Kuya Kim suffered a mild stroke but eventually recovered from the ordeal. His break at broadcasting took place in 2004 when he replaced the late Ernie Baron as the show’s weatherman.
He was known to deliver a very smooth and professional performance for all his shows. He has been a passionate animal lover ever since he was a child. He has had several queer animals as pets. Because of this Kuya Kim mastered almost all the information about any pet or animal including facts for natural science. He is also known to be health conscious. He taught aerobics and weightlifting on television before he even went to sports casting.
