Shawn Yao is one of the hosts of “Sapul,” ABC 5’s new morning show; the other guys are Erwin Tulfo, Martin Andanar and Lourd de Veyra. Paolo Bediones revealed that Shawn Yao just suddenly appeared at the time they were looking for a new host and talents. Shawn had impressed people who handled the audition and interview. The production and management of the said network were overwhelmed to face a woman, very ladylike yet projects a very strong image. Shawn was born on July 26, 1982 and is a half-Chinese. She studied her master’s degree in management in 2005 from the University of Asia and the Pacific.
She was working as a part time photographer for children in Picture Company when she was still a student. Shawn was also a commercial and print model, and editor of the UNO Magazine. It was her agent in modeling that told her to take the audition in ABC TV 5. She was adamant at first, but tried her luck on the premise that she had experiences covering sports and events. That was the first time she will be hosting a live show, if accepted.
Shawn was happy working with the four guys, calling them “Kuya” which means elder brother. They all share a special bonding and had a good working relationship, as well as very supportive with each other. Someone commented that she resembles Paolo Bediones’ ex-girlfriend Abby Cruz, but Paolo was quick to add that Shawn had already a boyfriend. She admitted that, and even stated that his boyfriend is very supportive of her joining showbiz industry. Shawn Yao is an experimental host, yet she has proven that she is a well-versed and well-informed host, and intelligent as well. She comes prepared and very professional, especially when dealing with her work and colleagues. She always sees to it that she interacts accordingly with her colleagues’ and has researched and studied every little thing before anything comes out of her mouth.
Shawn Yao had earned the respects of the people around her, because she always accepts the challenges that are presented to her without any question. Shawn is a reliable and effective host, and hopes she can still stay and learn more about her career. She may look more Chinese but in her heart, she firmly believed that she gives her service to the Filipino people and the country as a whole.
