Serena Darymple was one of the popular child actresses of her time. She was born to Robert Lloyd Dalrymple, a Scottish-American and a former military officer and Wilma Billones Dalyrmple, in which she had two sisters namely Samantha and Sarah. Their ancestral roots originated from Cebu. When she was five years old, her father suffered and died from a heart attack and five years later, her mother died of pneumonia. Eventually, her uncle took care of them. Her acting and showbiz career started in 1997 through a Jollibee commercial with a tag line “isa pa, isa pang chicken joy” (one more, one more chickenjoy), which became popular in almost every household. Because of her talent in acting, she gained followers of her own and in due time, she was offered to appear in various Philippine movies in her credits. In 1998, she was launched under the movie entitled “Haba-baba-doo” along with another child star Camille Pratts. A comedy show “Eto Na Ang Susunod na Kabanata” with Roderick Paulate in 2003 proved her comedy acting. After the television series with Claudine Barreto ended, she was co-starred in “Sana’y Wala Ng Wakas” as Jericho Rosales sister. She was also a part of the sitcom and later produced into a movie “Ang Tanging Ina” with Ai-ai delas Alas. Baby O!
2007 was the year when she decided to retire temporarily from her showbiz career in favor of her studies. Her plans in pursuing her college degree in the US did not materialize. Instead, she continued her Business Management course in the same school where she graduated from high school. From time to time, she managed to have some guestings in a number of movies and television shows mostly ABS-CBN.
It was her firm decision to stay away from her showbiz career for a while and prioritize her studies. Serena had plans of migrating to the US when the right time comes together with her siblings. She says she’s happy and contented living a quiet and ordinary life and only time can tell if she can still pursue her entertainment career in the future.
