Edgar MortizEdgar “Bobot” Mortiz was born on September 8, 1954 is a popular Filipino movie and TV actor. He is also a director. Edgar is married to Milette Santos, sister of Charo Santos-Concio on April 3, 1977. They had four children namely Edgar Francis, Edgar Albert, Ma. Carmela and Ma. Frances. He has already grandchildren named Joaquin Edgar, Julien Alva, Edgar Carlos, Jayla Sophia and Francis Marcus.

Jeepney TV is the home of Pinoy’s best loved TV classics gives a tribute to Edgar Mortiz for staying in the business for 50 years now. He is fondly called Bobot by his friends and colleagues, and is known to be one of the most influential people in Philippine entertainment today. It was in the 1970’s when he first started his acting career as a teen star and a love team and screen partner of the young Vilma Santos by then. In reality, he reveals, he actually was first paired with Nora Aunor, the rival of Vilma back then.

After a couple of years, he reinvented himself and became a director of gag shows and variety shows such as “Goin Bananas,” “Tropang Trumpo,” “MTB,” and “Wowowee.” He created the kiddie-gag show “Goin Bulilit,” and was even responsible for launching new stars in the Philippine movie industry.

The Jeepney TV special tribute features Edgar’s evolution and journey from being a former teen star to what he is now, and talks about his two children following his footsteps. There were also several interviews that include close friends, colleagues and contemporaries Al Tantay and Tirso Cruz III and many others, mostly friends from ABS-CBN where he works as a director of various TV shows.

Edgar was also famous as a singer and his songs were “My Pledge of Love,” “Who Am I To You,’ “Roses,” “My Foolish Wish,” “You Are My Dream,” “Blue Bird,” ‘Just Another Chance,” “In The Corner,” “The Love That I Have Is Yours,” “What Have I Done,” “I’ll Never Change,” ‘Please Give Me Your Heart,” “Oh God, How Much I Love You,” “Love At First Sight,” “I’m A Fool To Want You,” “Precious Moments,” “A Time For Us,” “Vilma,” “You Mean Everything,” “Love Letters,” “Because You’re Mine,” and “Loves Been Good.”

He had also directed two movies “Isa, Dalawa, tatlo” in 1996 and “Pera o Bayong Not Da TV” in 2006. Aside from being a singer, actor and director, he is also a writer. He was the writer of the movie “Agent X44,” which was shown and released in 2007. Edgar is already fulfilled in his career and family life that he cannot ask for more but be thankful for all the blessings he had received in his 50 years in the Philippine entertainment business.
