Karen Davila is Kristin Karen Davila in real life and was born on November 21, 1970. She is a Filipino broadcast journalist and a TV host and anchor in the Philippine media industry. Karen is a dedicated woman, and she had been working as such for so many years, and had even given numerous awards and citations in her name. At present she works as a news anchor in “Bandila,” aired over ABS-CBN on late evenings. She also anchors “Head Start,” over Studio 23, also an ABS-CBN subsidiary. She used to host “Wonder Mom,” “The Correspondents,” “XXX: Exlusibong, Explosibo, Expose,” ‘Y Speak,” and “Barangay Dos.” Karen had also been one of the former anchor of “ABS-CBN headlines,” “ABS-CBN Insider,’ TV Patrol,” and “TV Patrol World.”
As a professional journalist, she had received awards internationally, including an award from the New York Festival and the Ten Outstanding Young Men Awards for Broadcast Journalism in 2008. Her education includes a degree of Bachelor of Arts major in Mass Communications at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. She has been married to DJ Sta. Ana, who is the Head of Operations for TV 5’s News 5, and they had two children, all boys named David and Lucas.
David was a special child and had autism which Karen discovered when he was only 3 years old. He was a quiet child, still not talking at his age and they were thinking that maybe he will just speak a little later. But when he began having extreme tantrums, screaming everywhere, and not interacting with other kids to play that is when a friend of Karen urged her to bring David to a developmental pediatrician. That is when the couple learned of David’s incurable condition. The news was so heartbreaking.
Karen did all her best to find a cure for her son, and she knew of parents who would treat their children with the same condition as David with Biomedicine and Casein gluten-free diet, and they did that for nine long years. David had also undergone two stem cell therapies. And Karen had learned so much from these experiences. She had learned to give her love unconditionally, and to understand and be patient with children who have the same condition as her son.
And her second son came when she was already 38 years old, and was very scared the next child would end up with some conditions too. This time she took her pregnancy very seriously and carefully and was very sensitive to almost anything especially her diet. She even breastfed Lucas for the longest time, and really did things differently and with caution.
Karen considers Lucas a blessing because he was the one who brought chaos to their house, and to their life. He is very talkative that she calls Lucas little Karen.
