Richard Gomez, a Filipino actor, comedian, model, athlete and director is born Richard Frank Gomez on April 7, 1966 popularly known as Goma. He graduated from college at the University of the Philippines. Richard’s mother, Stella Suarez is considered to be the screen siren of the 60’s in Philippine Cinema and his father is of Spanish-Mexican descent. Richard was raised by his grandmother and excels in many sports like basketball and fencing. He is married to Lucy Torres and together has one daughter named Juliana. He is the founder of MAD which stands for Mamamayan Ayaw sa Droga which is a campaign against illegal drugs and the organizer of Goma Cup. He owns a restaurant called FELIX.
Richard is one of the famous actors in the Philippine show business. He is under the management of ABS CBN. Before he was introduced to show business, Richard worked in McDonald’s which is a fast food chain. His modeling was the path towards the start of his showbiz career. His first movie was Inday Bote which was released in 1984 with his then love team Maricel Soriano.
Before he married Lucy, he was linked to several women like the Mega Star Sharon Cuneta, Dawn Zulueta and Patricia Borromeo who passed away due to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which is a type of cancer. Richard transferred to GMA-7 and had his first GMA show Ang Iibigin Ay Ikaw and his first GMA sitcom was Lagot Ka Isusumbong Kita. He became the host of the game show Family Feud. Right after doing the movie Filipinas in 2003, he played a role in the Indie film Bente.
After which decided to run for congressman in the hometown of his wife Lucy but was disqualified. He was replaced by his wife and won the position. After politics Richard returned to acting where he also casted in shows like Claudine and accepted a hosting job for TV5 for the show P.O.5. He also appeared in My Driver Sweet Lover and Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak which also aired on TV5. Richard returned to ABS-CBN where he became a cast of the teleserye Walang Hanggan. On being a good athlete Richard was a Gold Medalist in the sport fencing at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games. Richard’s other passion is also for Photography.
