Dion Joseph Ignacio was born on March 28, 1986 in Manila, Philippines. He is a Filipino actor and model and more famous on his role as Raul Agoncillo in the afternoon soap opera “Saan Darating Ang Umaga,” but he was best remembered in the “Magdalena” with Bela Padilla as leading lady. He became popular when he joined a reality search show entitled “Star Struck,” and although he was not able to get the grand prize this opened opportunities for him in showbiz world.
Dion is actually a celebrity in his own right, because he is the bassist of the “All Star Band” and he has already appeared in movies. He had already played various roles as a villain, leading man or supporting roles in several TV shows. Dion is also a member of an all-male group called “The Studs.”
He was paired with Yasmien Kurdi in “Sine Novela: Saan Darating Ang Umaga,” which he considered his biggest break ever in 2008. He had also displayed a superior performance in “Sine Novela: Ngayon At Kailanman.” Later he was also included in “My Lover, My Wife,” with Maxene Magalona and Nadine Samonte.
After “Magdalena,” he was eventually cast in the drama series “Maghihintay Pa Rin” which he played the role of Orlando. The role was so intense, and that he admits he still have to better in some scenes and get really absorbed in the character. There are even scenes that will be taken in Singapore and it would be his first time to travel abroad. He feels nervous and excited at the same time, but he hopes this experience can be very fruitful. Dion is not that jet-setter type, and is really neat looking that you wouldn’t guess he is that rocker thing of a person.
Dion is also into mixed martial arts aside from playing bass guitar in a group called Philia, who plays mostly metal rock. He dreams of doing some action films in the future and wants Bela to be his leading lady. He likes working with her.
It is already a decade since he joined the industry, yet he still looks forward to do more challenging roles that can well prove his skills in acting. He is even open to do gay roles, which he had not done yet. Dion is such an actor who takes everything slowly yet surely. He is still very much around, and is willing to grab more opportunities that might come his way. Dion has a girlfriend of two years now and he is a non-showbiz girl. He is happy with the relationship and his career right now.
His new teleserye is entitled “Hindi Kita Iiwan,” which replaced “Bukod Kang Pinagpala,” is a story of a man seeking for greener pasture abroad, a poor boy, rich girl concept and the implications that will cause them to meet and fall in love. They will have to battle all the hardships of the relationship and that would make the series exciting.
