John Vladimir Cruz Manalo was born on September 6, 1995 in Marikina City, Philippines. He is popularly known as John Manalo in Philippine entertainment. John is also a member of Star Magic. John had already achieved several acting awards and has earned a nomination as Best Supporting Actor. He was already interested in acting when he was only 4 years old because he admires his uncle, popular actor Jericho Rosales. He started doing commercials and in 8 years, he had already done 36 TV commercials. John stays with his parents, Rey and Lot in Parang, Marikina City together with his older sister and two older brothers. He finished his secondary education at Marist School in Marikina City, Philippines. He is currently pursuing a degree in Theatre Arts at University of the Philippines.
John is a versatile actor and has an outstanding talent in acting, as proven by his many awards, but despite of this, he still continues to be humble and grounded, a loving and thoughtful son to his parents. He is still the young boy, disciplined and responsible, and these are the traits that made him lovable to the people around him. He had appeared in TV shows such as “Wansapanataym,””Mga Anghel Na Walang Langit,” “Homeboy,” ‘The Buzz,” “Nginig,” ‘ASAP,” “At Home Ka Dito,” “Showbiz No. 1,” “Pilipinas Game Ka Na Ba,” “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” “Wowowee,” “Magandang Umaga Pilipinas,” “Your Song,” “Pipol,” ‘OHA,” “Mulawin,” “Nagmamahal Kapamilya, “ “Yes to X-mas,” “Sana’y Wala Ng Wakas,” “Furthermore,” “Salam,” among others.
He is just an ordinary boy outside showbiz. His free time is spent playing computer games, basketball, malling and just playing with his nephews when he is at home. He enjoys the simple things just like any other boy. John was also one of the cast of ‘Mara Clara,” together with young actresses Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes and Albie Casino. He is not affected though by any comparison between him and Uncle Jericho that he gets, rather he is determined to showcase his own talent and style, and his being a “Goin Bulilit,” pioneer had contributed a lot to his learning process.
John misses the show that started it, “Goin Bulilit’ days were all fun and work, and the special bond that had been developed with his colleagues. There are times that he wants to guest on the show, just to fill in that reminiscing he has at heart.
John was paired with Kathryn Bernardo back then and he is frank to admit that he got a crush on her, but it is the admiration that is pre-existing when people tend to be together in work almost everyday. She finds her pretty and simple yet very unpredictable. John had only praises for this young actress, who is now being paired with young actor Daniel Padilla. John hopes someday she gets to work again with her co-stars in “Mara Clara,” because he misses his colleagues on the soap.
This young, promising actor is set to appear in other upcoming teleseryes down ABS-CBN, but until that time, he focuses more on his studies for the moment.
