Joey Marquez was born on October 7, 1957 and is a popular Filipino comedian, actor, former basketball player and a politician. His parents are Artemio Marquez, Sr. and Teresita Esguera Perez. His siblings are Via Hoffman, Melanie Marquez and Babes Marquez who are also equally famous in their respective fields. Joey was born in Mabalacat, Pampanga and his former wife is Alma Moreno, and had a brief relationship with the Presidential sister and queen of all media, Kris Aquino. He is fondly called Tsong by his close friends and colleagues. Joey finished his elementary in Holy Trinity in 1975, and high school in Arellano University. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1985 from Angeles University.
Joey was a former mayor of Paranaque, Philippines and ran as a congressman in May 2004 but lost. In 2010, he again tried his luck but unfortunately, he lost again. As an actor, he was a lead actor in one of the longest running comedy show in ABS-CBN entitled “Palibhasa Lalake,” aired over ABS-CBN, for 12 long years. His co-stars included Richard Gomez, John Estrada, Gloria Romero, Amy Perez, Cynthia Patag and Carmina Villaroel. He had also appeared as a co-host in “S-Files,” when Paolo Bediones went to the US. His political career started in 1992 when he ran as a Municipal Vice Mayor and won. In 1995, he was elected as Mayor of Paranaque City until 2004.
Last 2012, he joined the talk show “Showbiz Inside Report,” aired over ABS-CBN together with co-hosts Janice de Belen, Ogie Diaz and Carmina Villaroel. A month before the 2013 elections, he took a leave from the show to focus in his candidacy for a congressional seat, but unluckily, he did not win.
Joey Marquez, after a short-lived relationship with Kris Aquino had various other girls linked to his name. He had eleven children with different mothers. Joey gamely talked about losing his hairs, experiencing ridicules and being a laughing stock of his close friends. Girls would also call him Uncle or Kuya because he looks like 10 years older than his age. He lost his confidence for a while because he thought his appeal got lost together with his hairs.
Today at 56 years old, he is proud to say that he can date younger girls because he regained his self-esteem and hairs at the same time. He laughingly jokes that he feels he is younger and even looks younger than his age, and the hairs really made a difference.
Joey Marquez may be a funny man, but to his eleven kids, he is a responsible father to all of them. He admits he has a new girl now, non-showbiz at that, because he wants to protect her from any other controversies that are enveloping the showbiz world. He has really matured in the real sense of the word, because his various and wide experiences had made him so. That is another trait that makes him sexier and attractive to women.
