Dingdong Avanzado was born on July 7, 1968 and is a Filipino singer, actor, politician and a TV host, composer at the same time. In short, Dingdong is a multi-talented performer and a total entertainer who has garnered attributes such as “kilabot Ng Mga Kolehiyala,” during his time. He was also dubbed as “Crush Ng Bayan,” and “The Original Prince Of Pop.” His real name is Fernando Avanzado. Dingdong Avanzado had performed numerous movie theme songs that opened opportunities for him to be a recording artist. “Ikaw Lamang,” was his first ever single in which he earned his first Gold Records award. “Shine On,” was his first major concert held in the Rizal Theater which is now being used by Shangrila Hotel.
His album containing eight songs which included his hit singles ‘Ikaw Lamang,” “Maghihintay Sa Yo,” and “Tatlong Beinte Singko,” which was composed by Rannie Raymundo was released under Dyna Records in 1988. His second concert was staged in the same year at the Folk Arts Theater. The next two years were quite busy for Dingdong, because he performed major concerts in ULTRA or today, called the PHILSPORTS Arena. He was also starting to appear in several movies such as “Pik, Pak, Boom,’ “I love You Three Times A Day,” Estudyante Blues” and “Love At First Sight.” His other hit songs also included “Makapiling Ka Sana,”’Basta’t Kasama Kita,” “Hindi Mo Na Ba Minamahal,” Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal,” “Paniwalaan Mo,” which even became movie theme songs in the 1980’s and early 90’s.
Dingdong Avanzado has unsurpassable talent that gave him his place in the music industry. He had gained various recognitions which enabled him to be recognized as one of the top recording artists in the country.
In 1998, he ran for a public office to show his interest in public service. Quezon City was then popularly known as the “City of Stars,” under his supervision which highlighted various film networks in both the film and music industry to help further tourism.
By then, that was also a memorable moment in his life that he met and eventually married Jessa Zaragoza, one of the biggest female singers in her time. They had a daughter. Their marriage even kept them busy with several tour shows abroad and launching of albums and directorial jobs for Dingdong.
On May 2013 election, Dingdong won as Vice Governor of Siquijor under the Liberal Party Of the Philippines, leading for about four thousand votes from his opponent. Surely, Dingdong makes a very fulfilling life, as a performer/artist, a family man, and public servant.
If asked what made their marriage still strong against the odds, Dingdong is quick to say that they both pray that whatever challenges and hardships that would come, God, will be generous enough to give them all the courage and strength, to face these adversities in life.
His wife Jessa agrees with this and adds that faith and prayers should always be the basis for a successful marriage. For without these, the basis of foundation in a marriage can be easily ruined and destroyed.
