This young actress took the heart of the Filipino audience in her appearance as a housemate in an ABS-CBN reality search show, the “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4.” Karen Mae Reyes was born on October 17, 1996. She hails in Makati, Philippines but her family moved to Calapan, Oriental Mindoro. A typical bubbly and energetic teenager, she ventured to audition in the biggest reality TV show that hit the country. Karen got the 2nd place and opened the opportunity for her to be managed and trained under the Star Magic banner of the ABS-CBN talent agency. Her father was an Overseas Filipino Worker until his death due to a traffic accident and her mother is an entrepreneur, Claire Reyes. She studied at Jose Leido Memorial National High School in Calapan before she decided to join PBB.
Karen Reyes has a pretty face, with great similarity to actress Lorna Tolentino. She dreams to finish her secondary education and eventually enroll in a college education in Tourism. Karen is a simple teenage girl with simple joys in life. Like any other typical teenager, she enjoys texting, playing, eating, sleeping and also hanging out with friends. She loves dancing and posing for pictures. She is inspired by actress Angel Locsin and hopes she can be like her someday. Karen was already given minor roles in various TV shows like “Angelito” on ABS-CBN.
Her appearance in the PBB had earned her fame and popularity. The most vocal among the housemates, Karen was considered to be quite domineering among her colleagues. Other girls even felt intimidated by her pretty face and strong personality. She eventually becomes one of the favorite housemates in the house.
Karen Reyes is being teamed up with Ryan Boyce but was initially paired with Kit Thompson inside the house. She admits that the most important lesson she learned from the experience is taking hold of her emotions. Karen felt she was so aggressive and flirty in the first few weeks of the show. But Karen shared that she is oftentimes misinterpreted by her actions. She was always mistaken to be snobbish and over acting. These negative character traits earned haters in the social networking sites. Later, she realized that a change of attitude and behavior can bring good vibes rather than being nasty and pessimistic. She began to reach out to other housemates and tried her best to repair whatever damaged has been done.
Kit Thompson made her realize to value herself more. When Kit shifted her attention to Myrtle Sarrosa, she decided to give him some space. Ryan Boyce filled in and started running after her, and admitted having a big crush on her. But Karen denies that they are already a couple.
Karen Reyes had gone a long way from the PBB experience and tries new things in her acting career. Young as she is, she is enjoying every little thing that comes her way. Karen savors what showbiz entertainment world can offer her, and plans to finish her education as well.
