Timmy Cruz is Fatima Cruz to her family. She is born to Atty. Angel Cruz and Lourdes Lontok, a popular businesswoman and prominent civic leader. Known to be a disciplined and determined person, she earned her degree at the University of the Philippines in Business Administration. In addition, she furthered her studies at the University of San Francisco in California with a degree in Banking and Finance and graduated with flying colors.
A passionate individual, she combines singing with acting and apart from these, she still shares her time teaching little children at “Playschool for Kids,” located at the Rockwell Center. At times, she also enjoys hosting in various radio and television events. Her popularity in the Philippine showbiz industry started in 1980’s through her successful song hits entitled “Boy,” “Joke Lang,” and “Tingin” which became phenomenal successes in the music scene.
A versatile and well rounded actress and singer, Timmy Cruz also starred in different Filipino movies such as “Kumander Bawang” in 1988, ‘Kung Kasalanan Man” in 1989, “Pangarap Na Ginto” in 1990, “Di Na Natuto” in 1993 and the “Sarah Balabagan Story” in 1997. In “Sheman: Mistress of the Universe” she was Joey de Leon’s leading lady as well as in the films “Alfredo Lim: Batas Ng Maynila” and “Batas Ng .45” with Eddie Garcia and Fernando Poe respectively.
Other television series appearances are “Villa Quintana” in 1995, “Halik Sa Apoy,” in 1998 “Sinner Or Saint” in 2011, which were shown in GMA Network. She had also worked with ABS-CBN in different teleseryes which include ‘Lobo” in 2008, “Love Is Only in the Movies” in 2010 and in 2011 “Kapitan Inggo.”
Timmy Cruz reverence for God made her a Gospel singer under Praise Music and was awarded the Fr. Neri Satur Environmental Heroism Award in 2009. Music is Timmy Cruz first love and her devotion and talent for music is shown by her compositions “I Can’t Let Go,” “If You’d Only Take A Chance,” “Kapatid,” “Naging Tapat,” and “Sasayaw Ako At Aawit Para Sa Iyo.”
Timmy Cruz has a very supportive family and her fondness to her mother was so great that up to now she talks about her with beaming eyes and a wide smile that is so heartwarming. Her siblings whom she fondly calls Menchit, Boy, Delo, Tunting and SJ are also very encouraging of her in any endeavor she is engaged in. The launching of her self-written CD which she entitled “In TIM8” in Tagaytay marked another success in her singing career and she was just so happy that her family had been there to enjoy that blissful moment.
Timmy Cruz, aside from being a singer, an actress, a composer and a teacher is a dutiful daughter. Even in deathbed, she sang lullaby to her mother, comforted and prayed with her and help her mom understand a new, joyful journey has just begun. Once again, in the new GMA afternoon TV series, Timmy shared her dramatic skills and talents to her audience. All these years, she continued to give a wholesome heartening performance via the portrayal of different Movie and Television roles.
