Born Franz Patrick Velasco Garcia on September 14, 1981, Patrick Garcia is a popular Filipino actor and a brother to Cheska Garcia, also a Filipina actress and commercial model. Patrick was famous for his role in”Madrasta,” a film of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and played a critical role in a TV series “Darating and Umaga,” as Nathaniel Cordero. Patrick used to be an altar boy at the St. James Parish Church in Ayala, Albang where the family used to stay. When he reached the age of 13, her sister Cheska convinced him to try acting. In 1994, he auditioned in a Philippine film entitled “Separada,” in which he was cast immediately.
The film was a blockbuster and Patrick was then dubbed as the new teen heartthrob of the Philippine Cinema. This paved for him several opportunities in movies and television shows such as “Gimik,” “Araw-araw, Gabi-Gabi,” and “Asero,” to name a few. His first acting award was in 1996, where he was given the award as the “Best Child Actor,” by the FAMAS awards, for his role as Ryan in ‘Madrasta.”These was followed up by more movies such as “Mano Po III: My love,” “Nagbibinata,” and a TV series entitled “Captain Barbell,” “Kampanerang Kuba,” and “Super Twins.”
Patrick was also in the cast of “Ang TV,” and was later launched as a talent of “Star magic Circle 2,” of ABS CBN management. Although Patrick was teamed up with Paula Peralejo and Jodi Sta. Maria whom he later co-starred in “Tabing-Ilog,” “Pangako Sa Yo.” He then had a chance to work in another network in the TV series “Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita,” and ‘Obra.”
In a remake of “Kung Aagawin Mo Ang lahat Sa Akin,” he had the opportunity to work with Maxene Magalona and Glaiza de Castro. He also played the role as Luigi in the TV series “Full House.” After his contract with GMA, he returned to his original home ABS-CBN.
Patrick was then rumored to have impregnated his long time girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado. He left the country hoping to pursue a course in directing at New York University. He left Jennylyn alone pregnant with their son, Jazz. Patrick went back when his sister Cheska married on October of 2008 to a basketball player Douglas Kramer.
And for the second time around, Patrick will again be a father to her pregnant non-showbiz girlfriend. He finally admitted the rumor was true. He just want to keep his lovelife private at this time because he had also been traumatized of the situation he was involved when Jennylyn Mercado was still his girlfriend. Patrick and his present girlfriend is expecting a baby girl.
He had a previous problem with Jennylyn about his son’s Jazz financial support because he explained work was scarce and he doesn’t have the money yet. But he revealed that he loves his son so much and really want to spend more time with him in the future. He hopes that He and Jennylyn would be good friends for their son’s sake.
