His real name is Angel James Dee, born on July 27, 1982 in Naga City, Bicol, Philippines. He is a popular Filipino actor and commercial model and a swimmer. His brother is Enchong Dee, also a famous celebrity actor and also a commercial model and a swimmer. AJ studied high school at the Naga Hope Christian School and graduated a course in Business Management at the Ateneo de Naga University. They both shared the same passions in life only working on different networks. AJ is currently a contract artist of GMA Network and had appeared in a sitcom “Tweets For My Sweet.”
AJ had co-hosted in one of the variety shows “MTB: Ang Saya-saya,” just after he won as first runner up in the contest “TV Idol.” He had also co-hosted on the Buzz, on a particular segment “Wanna Buzz.” He considered “Dreamboy” as his biggest break so far. He was formerly an ABS-CBN talent artist and was managed by Backroom, Inc., under Boy Abunda. AJ had also tried acting in theater when he played a role in “A Portrait Of An Artist,” and had also performed in the play “The Frog Prince,” shown in Clark Pampanga Theater. He was also one of the endorsers of the brand Bench and other various products.
It was in 2009 when he decided to transfer with the other network, GMA and give it a try after his contract expired with ABS-CBN. He then changed his manager to Popoy Caritativo, and he was co-hosting the show “Show Me Da Manny” back then. The show starred Manny Pacquiao and Marian Rivera. He then co-starred in the teleserye entitled “Bakit Kaytagal Nang Sandali.” He then appeared in “Amaya,” also in GMA Network.
AJ was also seen in “Palos’ where he explored his talent as a villain, and he also appeared in “Eva Fonda,” “When Love Begins,” which also had Aga Muhlach and Anne Curtis in the lead roles. AJ has been doing more supporting roles and is always compared to his brother. Enchong gets meatier roles than him, but he says it’s still work anyway, and he will never be insecure because Enchong is his brother, and he is happier for him more than anybody else.
Others sometimes perceived him to have retired and took his break from showbiz because he is not that visible unlike his brother. AJ said that he may not be busier than Enchong but it doesn’t mean he is not also busy.
Of course, blood is always thicker than water. If they have the luxury of time, they are also seen vacationing together. They had a chance to visit Malaysia sometime in 2009, and the brothers had a real fun bonding. They still do some swimmings together and makes sure to spend moments with their family. Whatever success each of them achieves and whoever makes it first to the top, they still had their feet grounded, and never forgets their humble beginnings.
