Soxy TopacioSoxy Topacio or Socrates Hernandez Topacio in real life was born on June 19, 1952 in Manila, Philippines. His parents were Dominador Topacio and Socorro Hernandez who are both deceased, and he had a brother named Roudel Topacio who is also deceased. Soxy studied at Zamora Elementary School in his elementary days and finished his secondary education at Araullo High School in 1969. He then furthered his studies at the University of the Philippines and took up a course in Chemical Engineering. Soxy later shifted to Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Mass Communication and later transferred to the Philippine Institute of Interior Design in 1974. He was not able to graduate any of his college courses whatsoever.

Soxy is an actor and a director. He had already various numerous awards to his name, such as “Nominee for Production Design,” in the movie “Mortal” in 1977 FAMAS, “Most Promising Actor” in the ALiW AWARDS in 1977, in 1995-1997, he was nominated as the Best Director for Bahaghari Awards for Channel 7. He had also appeared in countless movies such as “Ang Tsimay at ang Tambay,” shown in 1977, in 1981 “Magtoning Muna Tayo,” and “La Funeraria Toti,” in 2005. As a writer, he had written stories of movies such as “Friends in Love,” in 1983, “Diosa,” “Ded na Si Lolo,” “Puting Buhok Puting Nitso,” “Miss, Magpapa-make-up ako,” and “Tsikiting Masters.” He was also the director of “Puso 3,” in 2006, “Ikaw Na Sana,” “Reyna: Ang Makulay na Pakikipagsapalaran Ng Mga Achucherva…,” and ‘Ded Na Si Lolo.”

Soxy has been also a Resident Artist of PETA since 1969, a Program director of Kalinangan Ensemble from 1982-1986, PETA Executive Director from 1986-1994, a member of the Board of Trustees from 1995 to present, a member of Afredo Salanga Foundation Board of Trustees from 1990-1992, a member of the PETA Artistic Com from 2004-2006 and a membership committee from 2005 to present.

Soxy was also a director in television shows and programs such as “True Stories,” “Carmi,” “Kristal,” “POPCOM,” “Komiks,” “Dear Diary,” “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin,” “Pira-pirasong Pangarap,” “Daboy en da Girl,” “Marinara,” “Nuts Entertainment,” “Maynila,” “Family Zoo,” “Takeishi’s Castle,” “Kung Mawawala Ka,” “Impostora,” “Atlantika,” “Sa Iyong Paglisan,” “O Mare Ko,” “Joey’s Quirky World,” and more GMA telesines and drama anthologies.

At his age, he still continues to share all his talents to the movie industry. He still can act, write and direct and all that he had learned, he is willing to share in young aspirants who want to take a chance in the movie industry. Soxy had very humble beginnings, yet he doesn’t forget to always put his feet planted on the ground, and someday hopes that he can leave a legacy of his own. He is still very visible in any showbiz happenings and events, making sure he can be around to put spice in the movie and TV industry that supported and gave honor to him for the last decades or so. Soxy Topacio is already a legend in Philippine entertainment.
