Francis Michael Arroyo Magalona, Jr., with screen name Frank Magalona was born on December 19, 1987 in Manila, Philippines. He is a Filipino actor and a singer in the Philippine entertainment. His parents were former Rapper singer Francis Magalona and Pia Arroyo. His grandparents were legendary actor and actress Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran respectively. His siblings were Maxene, Saab, Clara, Nicolo, Elmo and Arkin. Some of them were already in show business.
Frank is the second eldest son and the fifth among his siblings to join the industry. Prior to this, he had already numerous offers to work as an actor but he prioritized and focused on his studies first. He had graduated with the degree of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. He stated that his course and acting has so many things in common and they are both expressions of art. He’s been doing some sculpting and painting when he was still a student. Being a family of actors and actresses, he was not hard to encourage, and now that he had finished a degree, he is willing to explore himself into acting. His siblings who worked ahead of him in the business also taught him on some tips about acting. They are all very supportive of him.
Frank was so blessed because even though he has just joined the circle, he was immediately given a lead role as one of the leading men of Kylie Padilla in the hit drama series entitled “Blusang Itim,” over GMA Network. He believed that whatever God’s plan is higher than any other. He was actually on vacation when his mom told him to audition for the role if he is interested, which he did and luckily got the part. He studied the script and visited Kylie and told her to do the screen test. That was when he was sure that he will get the job and gave his best.
“Blusang Itim,” is where he really decided that he is born an actor, this was in reality one of his dreams and thought this was the time to start. He was backed up by a cast of many, such as Wynwyn Marquez, Lucho Ayala, Andrea Torres, Bodie Cruz and Cariz Solomon.
Aside from being an actor, he wants to continue his Dad’s legacy through T-shirt designing on a T-shirt business his dad started named 3 stars and a Sun. He makes sure to come up with new designs everytime, and even does designs on a limited edition. What Frank does he always dedicate to his father. Even his joining showbiz world will be supported by his dad, if he was still around. He recalls him saying that to always do whatever that will make them happy, because he will support them along the way.
Frank is definitely setting his goals now, of being a good actor, a brother and a son to his mother. He hopes that in the future he can also reach these goals and be successful in his endeavors.
