Sandy Andolong is the screen name of Alexandra Andalong-De Leon who was born on October 8, 1961. She is a popular Filipina actress and a TV personality in the Philippine entertainment. She is also a movie producer and is still very visible in different TV programs mostly in the GMA 7 network. Sandy is married to fellow dramatic and multi-awarded actor Christopher de Leon and they had five children. Only a few of her close friends in the showbiz industry knew that she earned a degree in a University in New York in an acting course. She was really armed before she joined the showbiz world.
Sandy took a break from her acting career and played a full-time wife to Christopher and mother to their children. She even took care of Ian, a son of husband Christopher by superstar Nora Aunor, who is living in the de Leon’s compound with the rest of the family. Ian even calls Sandy “Nanay,” just like his other half-sisters and half-brothers. Sandy says she takes Ian as her own.
A true Filipina beauty, Sandy is a woman that had maintained his physical looks and body even if she had five children. She admits she is not strikingly beautiful nor appears too plain either, just enough she says, for a Filipino woman. The late Director Ishmael Bernal was one of her greatest mentors, which included her in almost all the films under his direction. Her one memorable movie was entitled “Kakabakaba Ka Ba?,” where her acting skills were noticed. Although she did not have any awards, she had already gained the respect given to most veteran actresses because she delivers and performs to the best of her ability.
Some of her noted movies and television shows are “Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan,” “My Big Love,” “Asian Treasures,” “Pangarap Na Bituin,” “Moments of Love,” “Tulay,” “Now and Forever,” “Fantastikids,” “Maging Akin Kang Muli,” “Darna,” “Spirits,” ‘9 Mornings,” “Trip,” “American Adobo,” “Arriba Arriba,” “Mother Ignacia,” “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal,” “Victor Corpuz,” “Muling Buksan Ang Puso,” “Sa Hirap at Ginhawa,” ‘Moral,” “Alpha Kappa Omega Batch ’81,””High School Scandal,” “Pabling,” “Aguila,” “Menor de Edad,” “Salawahan,” “Ikaw Ay Akin,” to name a few.
Just recently, the couple was a picture of a supportive and happy parent when one of their daughters joined the Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant. Their daughter Maria Angelica was one of the candidates, and she is only 19 years old in her 5 foot 8 inch frame. Boy Abunda threw her the question which goes like, “do you believe that the best things in life are free,” and she answered the question with flying colors. Her parents’ faces, Christopher and Sandy are always flashed on screen every time Maria Angelica appears on stage. She is one of the favorites among the participants and received more applause compared to other competitors. Christopher was once caught by the camera taking some footage on a video camera. Although their daughter only made it to the top 15, they still look proud parents.
